New thread, if we can stay awake to find out what happens...

OP posts:

@BillyIsMyBunny

Scott aka For has just posted on his Instagram that he and Talky are going live at 4pm if anyone’s interested.
Righto, I’ll go and follow Scott! I assume you mean Tally. That’s a great autocorrect!
Benfoldslanded · 09/04/2021 11:27

Can't wait for tonight! Think Andy will block Alice. Would love it if he blocked Manrika or Felix instead. It would make for a more dramatic final.
Hope Andy or Syed win.

TellingBone · 09/04/2021 11:27

@lynsey91

I was so happy that Andy was super influencer and not Manrika. She I am sure would have blocked Andy.

I really hope Andy has blocked Manrika but think he is actually too nice to do that so will go for Alice or Tom.

I'm sure Manrika would have blocked Andy. I would have in her place. Grin

It was nice how Syed and Felix finally bonded last night. Natalya really did overplay the Romeo persona, if she was more herself in chats with Hashu he would've taken to her a lot more I think. Then again, he was also too blinded by lust to give Felix a chance.

Natalya may regret leading Manrika on but I think it was probably the best way for her to make Felix valuable to Manrika who sways the most power in the circle. If he was just nice and straight like Andy he would've eventually been targeted by her just like Andy.

I always thought Manrika was fond of Syed because he made her feel good about herself but I think yesterday it really came through as genuine and like it surprised even Manrika that she actually genuinely cares about him as a person. Who knows what that translated to in real life :)

SpanishFly · 09/04/2021 12:04

I'm hating that the producers seem to meddle in things so much. It makes the entire game pointless.
Also, having conversations with anyone at all other than the other players makes a joke of the format. Surely they could come up with 55 mins of footage from 24hrs, regardless of whether a producer has got involved

pennylane83 · 09/04/2021 12:08

I don't think Andy would block an OG especially having to do it face to face

Only he didn't find out until after he had locked in his blocked player that he had to go and see them to deliver the news.

Baileysandcream · 09/04/2021 12:14

I'm not following her but I've watched a few of Manrika's stories, I'm not really clear on how stories work, but it seems she is updating almost constantly throughout the day. Last night she was showing herself watching the episode and talking how about how lovely Syed is.

I'm not sure what is "normal" for her girl her age in terms of updating social media, but it struck me as being quite unhealthly and obsessive the way she is constantly talking to her phone camera.

I can understand how someone could get caught up in their new "celebrity" status, but I really hope for her sake she is getting some proper support to deal with all this as it seem to me it could quite easily spiral out of control.

Can't wait for the show tonight, I'd really like either Andy or Syed to win.

bonfireheart · 09/04/2021 13:05

@Baileysandcream Her job now is "social media influencer" so makes sense for her to be using Instagram to push her brand.

Caught up on some episodes today, can't believe that Scott who was brill had to leave and one of the boring newbies will be in the final.

On a random aside, most tv channels are cancelling comedy shows today as we are in a national period of mourning for Prince Philip...do you think they might reschedule today's final?

I have looked at her instagram and it is just all pictures of her. I don't get how people like her as supposedly influencers. Who is she influencing with just photos of herself?

How vain too not to have pictures of anything else.

BillyIsMyBunny · 09/04/2021 13:26

Looking through the instagrams of most of the players (Eg: Scott, Joey, Tally, Pippa, Hashu) and some of the past ones (Eg: Freddie, Sian, Georgina, Paddy) they’re largely photos of themselves. I guess that’s what you need to post to become an influencer as there are certainly influencers who have gotten famous through posting photos of their make-up/ hair/ clothing etc. Also think it’s worth bearing in mind we’ve largely been in lockdown for over a year so unless you live with a family/ partner/ pet etc who is willing to be photographed there aren’t a lot of other things to take photos of so for those young people who dream of becoming an influencer I suppose it’s yourself or nothing.

I’m not saying I think it’s healthy, I don’t really get the whole social media influencer thing and I definitely don’t see why anybody would be interested in following someone who only posts photos of themselves, but it does seem quite common for people in their early twenties, I don’t think Manrika is being particularly vain or unusual when you compare her to many of the others who’ve been on the show.

HeronLanyon · 09/04/2021 13:40

‘National period of mourning’ - hadn’t thought - obvs when HerM dies. Are we in mourning - on top of lockdown ? Bloody hell what a life. And will this indeed mean the final is shunted off ??
Rip btw - other threads are raging about disrespect. Not a royalist but feel for HerM and the Family.

2Rebecca · 09/04/2021 13:40

I find the concept of being an influencer odd in the modern context. What are these young people influencing other young people to do/be? It all seems very appearance focussed and trivial. Role models were expected to do something with their lives not just look pretty and pose a lot.

jay55 · 09/04/2021 13:42

Influencing people to buy endless skincare, teeth whitening, makeup and tea that gives you the shots.

They posted 2 hours ago promoting the final, so I think it’s okay...

My (admittedly limited) understanding is it’s all very commercial and that an influencer is basically someone who is able to influence their social media followers to buy the same brands/ products as they use. This means that brands send them free products so that their followers will go out and buy the same and I guess once an influencer has enough influence they can get paid sponsorship/ advertising deals to use specific brands/ products or become models for the brands etc.

I don’t think it’s about being a good role model, it’s about being a good advert for the brand.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 09/04/2021 13:48

Although Scott Bryan, who is quite big in TV, “doesn’t expect the final to air”. He’s reached out to channel 4 for confirmation but so far they’ve confirmed special broadcasting until 6pm.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 09/04/2021 14:01

He’s wrong, they’ve confirmed it’ll still be on. “Subject to change”, but they intend to air it tonight.

bonfireheart · 09/04/2021 14:42

I suppose its a hard programme to cancel because they will have statements, interviews, social media, press etc lined up announcing the winner which will be hard to pull back and it gets inadvertently leaked.

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 09/04/2021 14:43

I think Andy will block a newbie. If he blocked Manrika I think the others would work out it was him, and the final ratings would reflect that. A super secret influencer could block a popular player that they've been friends with but they'd have to also convince everyone they weren't the influencer, otherwise they look like a snake, game player etc

Bibidy · 09/04/2021 14:50

Andy is too nice!! He will definitely block Alice because he will think it's too two-faced to block anyone else - even though it's a totally pointless blocking as he knows no one will vote for her in the final anyway! May as well leave her in.

He should be blocking Manrika....she would 1000000% block him if the shoe was on the other foot. Sadly I think she'll win because I think she's the only one who will definitely get voted top by at least 2 others - I think Syed and Felix will definitely rate her top. Andy will vote Syed....maybe 'Father Tom' will vote Syed too actually??

I'd like to see Andy win but would be happy with Syed Smile.

Bibidy · 09/04/2021 14:51

I don't think they'd figure it out because they think one of the newbies has an agenda, even if they have fixed on the wrong one. I think they'd assume Father Tom/Alice was the influencer if Manrika was blocked. But I don't think Andy would double-cross her like that.
Bibidy · 09/04/2021 14:59
@2Rebecca
It'll be interesting to see how other players react to the priest being a catfish, especially if by chance it's Tom who goes out tonight so all they get is a video message instead of a live meeting. They were all dismayed that Gemma lied about being a nurse, would they feel the same about the priest? Someone like Felix might have strong feelings about it, and maybe Syed being a religious man himself.
I think the nurse outrage was based on the current situation rather than general - it's quite a distasteful time to pretend to be a nurse.

I don't think people will care as much about the priest thing, especially once Femi and Pippa explain that they didn't have a choice re the profile.

pappajonessecretchild · 09/04/2021 15:18

this is the first time I have got into The Circle, after it came on after gogglebox! can someone fill me in of what this dinner is someone mentioned with the final? and is it worth me watching any of the other series? not even sure how many there are! thankyou!

bonfireheart · 09/04/2021 15:23

Everyone does their final ratings, they meet face to face at dinner, the final ratings and winner is announced. The final dinner is good cos everyone gets to see who the catfish are!

bonfireheart · 09/04/2021 15:24

@pappajonessecretchild I haven't seen series 1 but loved series 2. This is series 3. There is also one US version on netflix.
