Taskmaster Series 11

Did anyone watch this last night? I'm so glad it's back. We've been watching the old ones practically every day recently with the kids in anticipation of this new series. It's still odd and flat in the studio with no audience there and the big gaps between everyone, but the tasks themselves are golden.
I think Mike Wozniak is going to emerge as the star of this series. The combo of his 'nature is weird' song, his balalaika playing of the theme tune and the super cautious plates on a hoverboard task absolutely sold him to me.

I love Taskmaster. Other than Lee Mack I don't know any of the contestants but initial thoughts are to agree with you about Mike Wozniak, he really stood out yesterday. Greg Davies is simply marvellous isn't he? And I love that all of the tasks are Alex's ideas.

Absofruitly · 19/03/2021 10:10

Alex is the genius behind the show, for sure. It'll never not be funny that he plays such a subservient role to Greg in the studio and is routinely humiliated by the cast in the tasks (Sarah making him up under the table last night, for example), yet is the brains behind the whole operation and must now be very rich and powerful as the show is so successful and sold all over the world.
Greg is a magnificent beast, oh yes indeed.

So pleased to see a new series, love Greg and Alex. Hoping for a pg version as DS8 loves to watch it too.

Stellaris22 · 19/03/2021 13:45

Loved it last night and Mike Wozniak is brilliant, looking forward to watching more of him. The relationship between Greg and 'Little Alex Horne' is always fun to watch.

Ulysses · 19/03/2021 13:51

I only starting watching last series because I like Daisy May Cooper and there was nothing else on. I've now watched nearly episode of all the series since and it's just a joy of a show.

It's always good to see new stars emerge. I loved Mawaan last time.

I did think it come off a bit flat but that's because the other series had a big audience.

Can confirm Greg is now my not so weird crush. Alex Horne is the real genius though.

ContadoraExplorer · 19/03/2021 14:00

Saw Mike Wozniak at the Fringe a few years ago and he was brilliant. Definitely glad Taskmaster is back!

AncoraAmarena · 19/03/2021 15:39

Hands off Greg Davies, he's mine! And I'm bagsying Mike Wozniak too. Has anyone seen Man Down? They are both in that and it's bloody brilliant!

AncoraAmarena · 19/03/2021 15:40

Forgot to say that Taskmaster has saved us during this lockdown. We watched S10 and then have worked our way through the other 9 series. So funny, just what was needed.

ineedaholidaynow · 19/03/2021 15:42

Think they said there was a bleeped version available @RavenT

Absofruitly · 19/03/2021 16:34

Taskmaster bleeped is on All4 now (the new episode is up). You need to search for that term though, as it doesn't seem to be linked from the main Taskmaster page.
Love watching the bleeped versions with the DSs, safe in the knowledge that the swears are bleeped out, but slightly nervous that the fruity contents is not (no awkward questions so far).

@AncoraAmarena Seriously tempted to binge Man Down now to get my Wozniak fix. Never seen it before. Is it worth starting with Series 1, or is it one of those shows where you're best off skipping the first few series?

Definitely start with series one, it's funny from the start. There is also a main character missing later in the run Sad, but the replacement is just as good.

It's just ridiculous joyfulness! I must watch it all again actually.

Sojo88 · 19/03/2021 19:39

Just watched episode 1 now! Very entertaining - especially the live task, loved them trying to sabotage each other!

ScarfaceCwaw · 19/03/2021 22:13

Just watched! And yes I'm all in on the Wozniak. Something about his absurdity alongside that carefully brushed moustache is just doing it for me.

It's a real shame that S10 and S11 have had to be filmed in this way because it really takes away from the studio energy and the interaction between the contestants but the tasks are still golden. We nearly wept with laughter during Lee Mack's "feast".

I think Series 7 is the all time TM high point, but every series has gems. Isn't another Champion of Champions due?

Fruitinator · 19/03/2021 22:25

One of my fave TV programmes, I genuinely was holding my breath willing Mike Wozniak to carry all those plates. I only know of him and Lee Mack, but they all seem great contestants.

Mike Wozniak was brill in Man Down- it's a
great series. To be fair the whole cast was genius. When DP and I drop the cars off at the garage we still joke about getting a "tick".

LittleG69 · 20/03/2021 09:19

For all Taskmaster nerds Ed Gamble has a podcast and he’ll be starting on S11 this week (he has gone back to S1)

And the tasks are a combination of Alex and Tim Key’s work (S1 contestant)

Maireas · 20/03/2021 17:29

Man Down is hilarious.
This is a good group - Charlotte seems so sweet, but she made me laugh! Lee is funny and Mike is such a lateral thinker - the "barely holding a tune" was brilliant. I liked the other comedian as well - Sarah?
A good group!

bonfireheart · 23/03/2021 21:32

Mike Wozniak in this pic is so hot 🔥

The series with Bob Mortimer was great, likewise with Tim Keys, I liked the earlier series more but I think that covid has had an effect on things this time round

Greedy.
Sojo88 · 27/03/2021 12:15

Really enjoyed the latest episode and already it feels a bit more relaxed in the studio!

Maireas · 28/03/2021 12:06

When Wozniak lept over the fence I feared he'd injure himself - someone needs to reign him in slightly. Although he is wonderfully absurd. His was the best horror film.

BakeOffRewatch · 28/03/2021 12:30

Ooh a taskmaster thread, I want to join in! wave

Yes I have watched all the Taskmaster episodes during mat leave and been reading up on it and the contestants. Like Sally Phillips turn with “Products of conception” band name, and Alex being born, takes a different meaning when you have read her interviews where she discusses her miscarriages and she was getting divorced at the time.

I’m also surprised how many of the contestants are Cambridge University alumni! Alex’s contact list must play a big part, but it’s a shame - or maybe British comedy has always been Cambridge Footlights dominated and I hadn’t noticed?

With this new series I haven’t clicked with the contestants yet, I find it takes a few episodes and then they fall into a rhythm. I didn’t find this with the the first few series though, they were funny and engaging from the off.

CosyAcorn · 28/03/2021 12:39

Thought this week's episode was excellent, and I'm loving Mike Wozniak too, even him just running is hilarious.

I'm looking forward to when the social distancing restrictions are gone and we can get the normal format back. It's just more fun when at any moment Greg might lead a contestant off for a quiet word.

Samcro · 28/03/2021 12:45

i love it. I love that I start out not having a clue who people are(obs know Lee and ghost/call the midwife ) but end up feeling like Im their number one fan.
