So glad Lyndsey won - definitely the right choice. Interesting to see the three judges; they all clearly loved Siobhan's but it didn't meet the brief at all & both Sophie & Matthew had to keep reminding Michelle of that. Plus the very pointed remark from Sophie that who ever won had to go on to do a corporate contract & follow the brief of that - I guess their (the production company & Michelle) reputations are on the line in a way too if they award the wrong person.
I agree with all of the above - I was shocked that Michelle seemed to veer so much towards Siobhan when I was screaming - you could not put a child in that second bedroom with the monkey lamps

.
I also agree with the poster who said none of the contestants in this series had any wow or innovation - they are just trawling Insta for ideas, which is fine, but it will not set you up as the next big thing in interiors. To build a huge brand like Kelly Hoppen or Abigail Ahern you have to have a signature style that also happens to be in the right place at the right time - as opposed to taking ideas that were "novel" about 5 years ago and are now already a bit passed. And I say this as someone who has navy walls in my sitting room, dining room and playroom
.
But the best person won - I would be annoyed if I was the owner of the hotel where they get the design brief and I was landed with someone who never listened to what the client wanted. That is the No.1 key to success in commercial design - give the client what they want (and add something they didn't even know they need but now can't live without).
So, is anyone applying for next year? DH said to me - are you going to apply ? And I laughed and said that 10 years ago I would have but I have since retrained in a completely different area and am busy gaining experience and working in that industry.
