I’m finding I need something a bit lighter recently.
If I like death in paradise, call the midwife and Shakespeare and Hathaway what else might I like?
Thank you

Comedy/drama is a bit tricky to define sometimes, some tip over in to actual comedy and some I guess it’s personal opinion. EG I’d say Catastrophe is comedy drama because of the topics it covers - highly recommend it. Also, After Life (Ricky Gervais), Back to Life (Daisy Haggard), and Inside No.9 (I’d recommend that whatever the genre Wink)

I can’t cope with anything about grief. I do like inside number 9.
I usually watch intense drama like Ozark and the walking dead or things like greys anatomy, Chicago fire, FBI. Running out of stuff due to lockdown obvs 🙄

@9GreenBottles Wanted is one of my favourite ever series and NO one else has seen it! It's brilliant and funny dark Australian drama.

If you like Shakespeare and Hatherway what about Agatha Raisin?
The Heart Guy - also Australian.
Ive just finished Why Women Kill, another dark comedy which reminds me of desperate housewives.

Offspring

Okbutnotgreat · 21/02/2021 20:32

Last Man on Earth is brilliant and really watchable though the fact it’s about the survivor of a virus is pretty weird. It’s 4 seasons though and has made us laugh lots.

9GreenBottles · 21/02/2021 20:35

Juo: We seem to have hit a seam of Australian tv series on Netflix over the last few months and Wanted was the latest offering. We spent a lot of the time saying "she was in x or y". I did wonder if it would go down a Thelma and Louise route but it stayed pretty upbeat. I wonder if there will be a 4th series?

longwayoff · 21/02/2021 20:38

The Great is funny. Its also very gory and sexually explicit. It may not be what you're looking for. Try Call My Agent on Netflix.

FruityPolos · 21/02/2021 20:40

What We Do in the Shadows - series 1 & 2 on iPlayer.

Also another vote for Mandy and for Superstore (Superstore has loads on series on Netflix so has kept us going for a while!)

Standrewsschool · 21/02/2021 21:29

Not sure if it’s still on iplayer, but I binged watched Mallory Towers a year ago. It’s on the CBBC section, but is a really good drama. Innicent and fun.

Beecham · 21/02/2021 21:35

I really enjoyed Better Things on iPlayer. It's a comedy drama about a single mother in LA who's also a jobbing actress. It's wry humour. Main actress is brilliant, Celia Imrie is also in it.

mogtheexcellent · 21/02/2021 21:39

Miss fishers murder mysteries are good. On drama and netflix I think. The mallorca files is on iplayer. Its on TV in the same slot as Shakespeare and hathaway. I love ghosts but have you also tried what e do in the shadows?

Afterlife surprised me with how lovely it is.

mammmamia · 21/02/2021 21:44

Ghosts and Motherland are both brilliant

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 21/02/2021 21:48

Father Brown is lovely.

We have just discovered Superstore. I love the wholesome, up beat feel although it is full on comedy rather than drama.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 23/02/2021 18:37

you probably already seen or heard about The Durrells, which i am catching up on, and really enjoying.
Have you seen The Crown?

Einszwei · 23/02/2021 18:40

The catastrophe boxset is on the channel4 website....or how about upload on amazon prime?

Firstinlastout · 23/02/2021 19:11

The Other One,it's on BBC I Player.Very funny and I love Siobhan Finneran.

SophieB100 · 23/02/2021 20:07

The complete series of Last Tango in Halifax is on I Player - yes, there is some sad stuff, but lots of comedy too - it's gentle, well written and draws you in. One of my all time faves.

TheVolturi · 23/02/2021 20:09

Absolutely definitely Superstore! Brightens my day 😂

Juo · 23/02/2021 21:45

9GreenBottles We spent a lot of the time saying "she was in x or y". I

More Australian drama / comedy -

The Great is one of the best funny things I've seen in ages. Catastrophe and motherland are also really good, catastrophe more comedy drama, Motherland more sitcom. Derry Girls is great too.
