er... her stupid logic. Sorry, must have been distracted by her handsome face. :P

singingmum · 22/10/2007 11:12

NurseyJo, doesn't it seem like a competition to them if they start challenging each other in this manner.
It seems that a lot of these parenting guru's just want the attention of being right no matter that the babies involed are real humans not dolls.

singingmum · 22/10/2007 11:16

Babies are supposed to create a small amount of chaos but in a nice way.So some times not all the housework gets done cause you'd much rather cuddle baby,so what.I loved cuddling my two and singing them to sleep etc. Both of them are respectful to others and very loving children, even the 13yrDS so something must be right because my two certainly haven't grown up thinking they are in charge

BabiesEverywhere · 22/10/2007 11:18

Overview for those who missed it - very wishy washy and Gina Ford mentioned I see

-----------
CLIP Feeding is not bonding time, don't give any eye contact. 'Getting milk down them ' to survive the next 4 hours until the next feeding.

CV
I'm not that extreme. I do like babies.

They (Babies) just need rules and consistence parenting.

I only leave a child when IT has been checked...that IT is not hungry etc

I wouldn't leave a baby crying more than 5 minutes and then return...20 minutes before they sleep.

I keep checking the baby is safe.

Awful being called a child abused by ~Gina Ford~...Not an awful difference in our rules.

I have challenged Gina Ford to meet 'Head to Head' to see who's method is best. But she is yet to contact me.

I didn't mean to offend anyone.. but it is the parents I train not the babies.

Caller - Leaving babies to cry can lead to convulsions
CV - No, not if you check them regularly.

Caller - My family couldn't stay away from a new baby for a week
CV - It is for the mothers benefits not to get too tired.

CV
If you want your life back in order follow a routine.
End of the series I had the baby who slept though not the other mentors.

Question from presenter
At 3 months all the babies seemed to be sleeping though etc so is there any benefit in using a routine
(Implying what is the point)

CV
The CC babies weren't sleeping though by 3 months, not sure if they do yet.

Caller - Supportive caller saying if kids had more routine they wouldn't be running riot like they do now
(must be an retired lady from the anti children tone)

CONCLUSION
CV IMO is doing a PA stunt trying to clamber back a living and keeps repeating that her babies sleep thought the night
Yawn and so your babies who sleep though in a room on their own, have an increased chance of SIDS not something I would personally pay £1000 a day for.

wish it had been Fern and Phil, they would have been far tougher and more incisive. Crap interview TBH it's obvious they think her horrible methods are ok.

her people are "watching" MN hee hee! i thnk there must have been some priming beforehand as the issue about cuddling wasn't covered (ie lack of cuddles for a baby is negelctful and a form of emotional abuse and not just IMO, it's evidence based!)

Awful that her and GF have to be so ridiculous and competitive, it just exposes them for the type of people they are even tho GF looks like a saint in comparison. As if you have to challenge another misguided "expert" to a baby stand off on national TV. FFS!!!

At least she's not tarring the nursing professions name with her job title anymore tho

mamazon · 22/10/2007 11:23

the woman has stated before that she is a fan of GF so its nto surprise she would feel her methods are acceptable

singingmum · 22/10/2007 11:23

THe funniest thing about all that babies only sleep through using her method stuff is that my son slept through from day one and had to be woken for feeding if needed.
My dd didn't but she would wake be fed and if she was having a bad night either come into our bed(I know shock) or I would cuddle her and sing and she was off again and settled in to cot.
I have to say that the only 'experts' I sought advice from were my mother and MIL.They knew it all as far as I'm concerned

MerlinsBeard · 22/10/2007 11:26

MOM, Check your draft folder and sent folder you might have a copy ?

SharpMolarBear · 22/10/2007 11:40

dont think GF is being competitivre
impression i get is that she's issued her statement and is now steering clear - good plan!

SharpMolarBear · 22/10/2007 11:41

singingmum, i do the same, DS cries, quick cuddle / forehead stroke and he's asleep again. If I left him he'd work himself into a frenzy, how exactly is that better??

peacelily · 22/10/2007 11:47

OK, GF is prob distancing herself from the whole fracas, prob terrified of comparisons !! As I said before CVs methods shed a kind and benevolent light on GF anyway. Not that I ever thought GF was cruel just a bit too militant for me.

Try to send link again MoM v interested.

MerlinsBeard · 22/10/2007 11:53

i did it again the long way (ie thru gmail rather than outlook - which froze but luckily had a copy in outbox!) recieved the standard reply about how they get hindreds each day andthat the mail had been passed to relevant department.

this morning
I didn't watch any of the programmes [missed the first one, but chose not to after hearing the comments both here and in RL as I've just had a baby and it would have really upset me] OR this morning so cannot comment on either. It doesn't seem to be what I would choose to do, although I do have a routine [what with school etc].

SharpMolarBear · 22/10/2007 13:49

There are still spelling mistakes on her site, has it really been corrected??

jofeb04 · 22/10/2007 17:59

Just seen the thread.

What course do the "gurus" do. surely, thebest course is having own children.

And....both my ds and dd slept for 6hours at night from birth, had to be waken up for feeds.

;)
