I didn't know about Gemma McCluskie either, poor girl. I like Kerry, she's a breath of fresh air. Although the two engagements was a bit far-fetched! Poor Robbie, I hope he finds true love one day!

I'm not keen on the criminal underworld storyline, with guns all over the place. No way would Lisa have known how to use that gun, and actually hit Phil with a single shot from across the Square. What's going to happen with her pregnancy?

I've always loved Sonia and have no idea what her future holds (no spoilers please!).

Nick Cotton's supposedly now staying in "the spinal unit" - I love the character but am sick to death of him (and Ashley) popping up every few months/years to once again abuse and rob poor Dot!

Janine & Terry is very weird, how have they suddenly become letting agents overnight and are raking in ££££ in fees? Irene's new credit card just arriving, Janine phoning up to ask for a new PIN - no way.

I'm delighted that Pat & Roy are back together! I love Barry managing the pub, he's a real comedian and provides some welcome relief from all the other depressing stuff going on!

So Kat is Zoe's mother, but nobody knows - that's going to be interesting!

Now Steve & Mel are married, I'm wondering how long before Mel starts to have doubts - in fact she probably already is!

Where's Martin gone, haven't seen him for ages.

tobee · 20/08/2022 15:06

"Where's Martin gone, haven't seen him for ages."

People on Eastenders, especially of that era, often disappear for long periods of time with nothing mentioned.

The shooting episodes going out, March 1st 2001, I think would have been filmed at Christmas. Natalie wasn't in any episodes for a bit, Terry was off to see his dad, Zoe and Kerry had just come back from Tenerife, Mel and Steve were just about to go on honeymoon and Phil is tucked up in a hospital bed. I think Steve McFaddon was likely being a panto villain at Christmas.

Yes the bit with Janine casually phoning for Irene's PIN number was ridiculous. Even in 2001 banks must have had better security than you ringing up, asking for it and then saying "oh yes, certainly, it's 4321 madam"

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/08/2022 20:44

Charlie and Kat talked abut her being Zoes Mum at Zoes birthday party (Kat flounced off to bed Charlie went to see what was up ) but I think at the moment it's only Kat , Charlie and maybe Big Mo ( with Viv being dead) that know

Little Mo went back home with "My Trevor£ even after the Slaters engineered a situation for Trevor to lose his rag . Now home together , the signs are showing.

Lisa is staying with Mark (I have to mute her so I miss some of it )

Jamie looks so young ! And has the weight of the world on his shoulders .

Limer · 27/08/2022 07:53

@70isaLimitNotaTarget Charlie and Kat talked abut her being Zoes Mum at Zoes birthday party (Kat flounced off to bed Charlie went to see what was up ) but I think at the moment it's only Kat , Charlie and maybe Big Mo ( with Viv being dead) that know - Aha, thanks, it'll be interesting to see what pans out!

Michael Elphick! I never knew he'd been in EE. Interesting love triangle with Peggy & the two Slater brothers.

Can't believe Ian & Laura get engaged, then Ian books the wedding for the following week!!! I'm guessing he wants to get his hands on her £20K ASAP, the scheming little chancer!

Loved seeing Mo whack "her Trevor" round the face.

I didn't like seeing Janine just winning back all the money she'd stolen off Terry, or him just forgiving her for the stealing. Hopefully she'll get her comeuppance at some point!

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 27/08/2022 10:24

I think Lynn knows as well (about Kat and Zoe) as she’s the eldest.

i don’t think Ian is after Laura’s money for once - he had it all planned to propose before he knew.

Barry is driving me insane. How many stupid things can one man do? If I was Nat I’d just stay in the Vic or with Pat and Roy without him

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/08/2022 11:02

How many stupid things can one man do ?

His next choice of wife and honeymoon wasn't his best decision to be honest Wink

Tunnocksmallow · 27/08/2022 11:32

I was cheering Natalie on when she finally snapped and lost it with Barry! The bloke is proper twat. If she was posting on here, we would all be telling her to LTB!!

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 27/08/2022 21:54

i just saw in the Guardian that the actor that played Asif has died aged 38 of an aneurysm. How sad. I was only laughing at him today in yesterday’s episode where he was staring gormlessly at Pauline.

Gosh that's sad ,so young, I started the second thread but only watch it now and again now sadly, its getting more interesting though .

Such a shame about the actor who played Asif.

Just watched the Brighton/Portsmouth episodes - OMG I was horrified at Kat & Zoe trashing the Italian baker's house!

I always thought Robbie & Sonia had the same father, don't know why.

I hope Lynne doesn't marry Gary, he's horrible. Jamie's turning out to be a bit of a scumbag too, cheating on Sonia with Zoe.

Limer · 21/11/2022 08:05

Just watched the Christmas 2001 episodes.

The unexpected pantomime was a surprise, but it was a laugh and brought lots of the cast into some good scenes. Ian Lavender! I hope we see him again.

Why do they have to mess with Pat & Roy????? Roy having a secret child from 30 years ago is a ridiculous storyline. And Roy wouldn't publicly wear the watch his old flame gave him, or keep the hotel tickets casually in his pocket. Neither would Little Mo keep her secret contraceptive pills in her handbag!

I am enjoying Jim & Dot, the engagement on the London Eye was a lovely moment. Not sure the recently engaged Mark & Lisa will actually make it up the aisle though.

I'm still hoping for a happy outcome for Little Mo, that she'll find the strength to leave him rather than end up dead after yet another beating. And now that Lynne & Gary are married, it's going to be a bit awkward with Beppe hanging around.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/11/2022 18:41

I haven't watched but ages but I skipped through some of the episodes and was Xmas Grin to see it was Christmas (again Xmas Grin )
I couldn't see all of them but managed the one where Dot and Jim go to the London Eye awwww

Phil and Sharon planning to adopt a baby and Peggy putting her oar in.

I didn't realise Mark and Lisa got engaged , did Pauline have a CatBumFace ?

And Mel&Steves divorce through , that's 2 husbands/2 divorces/2 years

I'll catch up the rest of the Christmas this week (even though I'd have watched it when it was originally shown)

GattinaGattona · 22/11/2022 08:59

It was so long ago I forget the storylines 😂

WhoDatDen · 22/11/2022 19:55

Urgh Phil is so nasty and abusive and yet he expects automatic access to baby Louise. What a deadbeat.

Hated the way Peggy spoke to Sharon when she wanted to adopt a child. The baby will never be a Mitchell...and that's a bad thing!!! She was so nasty about Sharon who was adopted herself.

Sux2buthen · 07/12/2022 15:01

I don't remember mick being in it for so many years, give the man a storyline for gods sake.
This must be about the time I was going out instead of watching EE years ago because I don't remember a lot of it.
Not my favourite time period on there

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 07/12/2022 16:12

Yeah I’d totally forgotten about Mick and Kim and then they appeared back!

I thought it was nice/poignant that coincidentally it was everyone getting ready for Dot’s wedding on classic (and chipping in to surprise her) while it’s her funeral being organised on current.

Sux2buthen · 13/12/2022 12:58

Why is the screen all weird like a film Confused
This section of episodes isn't the best, Mel is annoying
Lisa is annoying
Slaters are all annoying
I don't remember Jamie being so... meh

Sux2buthen · 13/12/2022 12:58

But I still like it Grin

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 13/12/2022 22:47

Agree Sux am thoroughly bored with Phil and Steve’s reciprocal revenge on each other all the time and Phil/Lisa/louise storyline. It’s just the same thing every episode!

Limer · 16/12/2022 12:01

I'm hoping that now Steve is dead (is he really dead?) that we can get back to more interesting storylines, I'm also sick of all the gangster stuff and the endless Phil/Steve battling.

I keep also hoping that Janine will get her comeuppance, but it's a long time coming!

The car crash was laughable - the whole crowd standing outside the school just watched while £50 notes rained down from the sky!

Does the car crash etc. mean that Lisa isn't emigrating? I was looking forward to seeing the back of her.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 16/12/2022 16:08

Do you really want those questions answered Limer 😀. I take it you didn’t watch first time round!

No, please don't answer the questions, it will spoil it for me! Grin I originally started watching when it was new, and stopped when it went up to 3 episodes a week, so it's all new to me now!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/12/2022 08:47

Does the car crash etc. mean that Lisa isn't emigrating? I was looking forward to seeing the back of her.

Cannot abide Lisa , her whingey , shreikey strangled voice cuts through me like glass .
Her pathetic devotion to Philth (who , doesn't care a whit about Lisa to be honest , only Louise ) . Phils cards have been on the table , he couldn't make it clearer if he tattooed Piss Off Lisa on his forehead !

"What does Phil think ? I wonder what Phil would say ? I'll have to wait and check with Phil"
Dangling Mark on her 2nd choice string .

She goes off and comes back several times , blonder , bit more glam but bitter .
There's one famous scene where Peggy goes "Oh one more thing" and slaps her face , full whack (I'm not condoning violence but my hand has itched to slap Lisa myself )

OoooohBobMonkhouse · 18/12/2022 17:02

Just catching up with this week's episodes and will not be sorry to see the last of the snogging and canoodling between Mel and Steve. My god they were always slobbering over each other.

Lisa gets right on my nerves as does Phil and Janine.

BrennieGirl · 10/01/2023 20:54

Is anyone else finding the Janine story very sad? I know she's horrible but she just seems so lost.
