Is Geraldine's very dashing husband played by Richard Armitage going to be in the Christmas episodes-anyone know?
Would be good to see how they are getting on.

It’s a series that should have known when to end... ie: after its first burst, some time in the late 1990s. The later episodes were rubbish, and the trouble with a series that keeps going too long and resorts to OTT ‘jokes’ is that it tarnishes what went before. The character of Geraldine in the later series didn’t ring true at all... she became a ridiculous figure with an unpleasant edge, which wasn’t true to the original character who was the only sane (albeit gently quirky) character landing in a village of weirdos.

I didn’t even bother watching the ‘lockdown’ sermon thing... there was no way that’s going to work, especially now that lockdown 1 (where it might have seemed more relevant even if not particularly funny) is long gone

I can kind of buy Hugo and Alice having 10 (or however many) children though. It's silly, but it's believable that they'd have lots of sex and not know how condoms work.

But Geraldine is surprised at how many there are, despite being Alice's best friend and their vicar, who presumably baptized them!

The only thing that made me laugh was the joke at the end of the old episode. The new stuff was dire and I can't really see the point in making it.

Finally got round to watching. Switched it off as it was so boring and not funny. And as A PP said, we've moved on from stuff like dodgy home haircuts etc.

Programmes that come back are never going to be as good though are they. Certainly my experience.

I haven't watched the new mini episode. I might but I'm not going to rush to do it and I don't have high expectations because it's never like it used to be when these things come back. And if it is good then I'll be pleasantly surprised
