I was thinking some sort of childhood fantasy crossed with memory gaps, trauma of being in and out of care etc and then Frankie turning up and saying he was her dad making him think they must have had sex. But it would just be completely bizarre for the writers to do that sort of a story. I hope they haven’t.

@Smallsteps88 no she's gaslighting him into believing she didn't abuse him, she said herself that she has a lot to lose & she could go to prison. She's abusing him all over again by denying it happened. It's quite difficult to watch actually.
I feel like since they've come back after lockdown Danny Dyer's acting is really fabulous. He stands out & you can really see some sort of change in his acting style. Also he's looking a bit like Jack Nicholson in The Shining with that hair though & the crazy looks 'Here's Johnny' 😂

Yes I feel like if she's abused him she'll sure as hell be capable of trying to cover it up. Also she didn't show much care for him if he'd somehow imagined it she'd want to help him by getting him some support she just left him confused & now she's pressuring him into talking to Frankie to say he imagined it. She's every kid in cares nightmare. Ugh vile!

It's a horrible story line with Mick and this woman. I am beginning to think they have run out of ideas. I know it happens to men and it's to highlight this , but it feels so wrong and uncomfortable.
Tina fawning all over her doesn't help.

It's unsettling (to me) because women paedophile's have never been shown before on a soap. She saw that, at 12 he was very vulnerable and took advantage of him. It happens in RL and I'm glad they're highlighting it. I don't think Katy's lying - the writers wouldn't be that insensitive about such a triggering story for many people watching.

I think it happened and that Katy is coming across as shifty and manipulative.

However, in all the memories, Mick never said "we had sex". All his memories have been easily explained away. That one wouldn't and surely he would remember given he doesn't (or didn't) feel like he was abused.

At first, I thought she was believable but she got less so as the episode went on.

She did spin a good yarn. Guess plenty of practice with being open and lovely like plenty of men before her. Mick is mid 40s So she should be mid 50s, Tina looked older than her.

Maybe her boss knew and that’s why she left. If she was a social worker she wouldn’t have given it up to go on benefits without good reason. Even with childcare and top up support she could have afforded to stay in work.

Gaslighting is a very common strategy used by abusers to continue their abuse or (as in this case) cover their tracks. I think it's been really well written in that sense. She is forcing him to go to Frankie with her so that she can continue to control the situation. I guess then Mick will go through a period of self-doubt and questioning his own memories before something happens to prove he is Frankie's dad.

I don't think she was a social worker, they keep referring to her as a carer, so I guess a support assistant in the care home?

It was interesting how Mick’s behaviour became very childlike in her presence when Tina was there. Like he was that 12 year old boy again, eyes down, only answering when spoken to, doing as he’s told by taking her to the tube.
