I thought Ian seemed remarkably lucid and chirpy for someone with a suspected serious brain injury. Wouldn’t he at least be sedated/groggy?
Plus a death bed marriage is not necessarily a guarantee that the new spouse will inherit everything (especially if there was little or no evidence of a prior romantic relationship), assuming that’s Ian’s intention.
I think the most interesting outcome would be if Bobby had done it. Back when he killed Lucy and attacked Jane (and didn’t he attack someone at his school too?), he was presented as someone with serious anger issues. That’s all been papered over a bit too easily IMO. That said, I don’t think that’s where they’re heading.
TBH I’d rather they resolved the Chantelle story. After all the talk about how they spoke to women’s charities in relation to the storyline, the poor woman’s been completely forgotten about and her loathsome killer is somehow still everyone’s golden boy.

willsantausesantatize · 09/12/2020 17:06

The Gray story line is so annoying! Helping all and sundry : letting people move in ! Yet he killed Chantelle.
So wrong.
It's almost as if they don't want him to be found out.

JemimaTab · 09/12/2020 17:11

I have a horrible feeling they’re actually trying to “rehabilitate” Gray as a character.
(Much like they did with other characters who started off bad e.g. Minty, Billy, Stuart).
It’s really annoying me and it’s doing a disservice to the DV issue IMO.

I agree. The writers like the actor so it's redemption time. Hope we forget the bad stuff! We won't! 😀
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/12/2020 17:33

Yes fully agree Jemima. I've said it numerous times the Grey and Chantelle story is an appauling and sickening disservice to victims of DV. Its basically said "You can make your partners life a living hell and go on to murder them and get away with it. ".

Also would Grey be able to represent Tina.

SophieB100 · 09/12/2020 20:41

@willsantausesantatize
Surprised that Super Sonia didn't pop up last night.
Ash is the new medic in the block now.

^^
This.
Super Sonia won't like this - she's the only nurse in Walford, doncha know!

SophieB100 · 09/12/2020 20:43

I think that Grey will be found out at Christmas. He can't get away with what he's done.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/12/2020 21:22

and now she's top doc in intensive care - amazing

Even more amazing as she's never at work, always hanging round the Cafe or her Mother's house . !

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/12/2020 21:30

Ian asking Sharon to marry him.
Anyone would think he’d had a bang on they head. Grin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/12/2020 21:30

The head not they head

SinisterBumFacedCat · 10/12/2020 00:58

Urgh asking a woman who doesn’t love you to marry you just because you think you are dying, F off Ian!

Thismustbelove · 10/12/2020 01:14

I find it even more incredible that the crime investigators are the neighbours. This must be against all rules of the police surely?

Another thing is Callum was with another officer yet Callum who has been in the job two minutes is the lead investigator when interviewing!

Callum will be eaten up with guilt as he was the one who told Ben that Ian phoned the police to save his own skin?

willsantausesantatize · 10/12/2020 17:57

Of course Callum is now in charge of all these investigations into Ian's attack. Only on EE would you be interviewed by your neighbour or given emergency health care by the woman you vaguely know who lives opposite you!
It's a tight circle of people.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/12/2020 18:01

I hope Xmas story will be happy ending to Grey and goes down for murder

Yes? Hope so.
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/12/2020 18:21

He's not going to though is he. Why are the police going to just open up the case again. Unles may be he hurts someone else and that sets off alarm bells and wakes the Walford police up or he confesses.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/12/2020 18:22

I can't understand why there hasn't been an out cry from Women's Aid to be honest.

willsantausesantatize · 10/12/2020 18:29

I think that lockdown may have played havoc with the scripts and maybe that's why the Chantelle story became overlooked? No idea really but he needs to go to prison!

Thismustbelove · 10/12/2020 18:31

Awwlookatmybabyspider

There have been a couple of high profile husbands/murderers in the news in recent years who appeared to have got away with it for a couple of months but behind the scenes, the police were building cases and they were eventually found guilty.

Of course Jack and Callum, the EE crime squad, are now too busy to investigate Grey so who knows!!!

SoupDragon · 10/12/2020 18:44

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

Perhaps they were told how the story pans out as part of the consultation.
SophieB100 · 10/12/2020 19:02

I think Grey will lose it and hurt Whitney. Who seems to be the square's perpetual victim. (not a spoiler, honest, just what I think).

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 19:58

Can you just marry someone like that? Don’t you need to give notice two weeks before or something?

willsantausesantatize · 10/12/2020 20:04

Dh and I are laughing at the very quick wedding ! Where did she get that woman from ? She isn't divorced from Phil yet is she? Bobby confessing .. to what .What is going on? 😄

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 20:06

I think Bobby is “confessing” to not doing his OCD rituals and thinks that’s what caused Ian to be attacked. Bobby thinks his rituals keep his family safe.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/12/2020 20:14

I hope they don't give Whitney another big story line. Its like a,bloody classroom where the same kid is picked all the time. There are other actors in programme
