Please don't read on if you haven't seen it!

I am a huge fan of the book and the Hitchcock film, but I actually like the changes that have been made in this version.

I'm posting to ask about something I just don't understand though.

When they are in the boathouse with the gun, why would she do what he was urging? I don't get it.

I need to finish watching this -- I got a bit bored by the far too romantic long start in Monte Carlo, and felt the writers had completely misunderstood the novel.

And it sounds as if that continues, if Max is actually imprisoned while the second Mrs De W goes about clearing his name the whole point of that part of the novel was that Max is being backed up by the establishment, as represented by Colonel Julyan (Julian?) the magistrate and Frank the estate manager, in part because Jack Favell is a lower-class cad attempting blackmail. Max isn't arrested and taken off by the police the idea! He's on his honour to stay at home, with Mrs Danvers locking him and his wife into their bedroom overnight, until they can all get to Dr Baker in London. And the narrator says she's sure Colonel Julian knows the truth, but will never say.
