Need something to fill the Modern Family void!

Hi all,

Modern Family has been perfect for us. Don't always have time to watch a lot of TV so have loved having those cheery, 25min episodes for a long time - we're very nearly finished, argh!

Hoping someone has some recommendations for something light-hearted with short episodes that will fill the void?!

We've got Amazon Prime and Netflix

Thanks all. I've done the US Office already (loved it!), so might try Schitts Creek. Especially as it was filmed in the village in Ontario where my Aunty lives!

Fuller house! Episodes are half an hour or so and absolutely brilliant

sapnupuas · 11/10/2020 23:09

I've just finished Schitts Creek. It's brilliant. I feel lost without it.

I was going to say The Office US and Schitt's Creek too. Schitt's Creek is wonderful.

Try again!

@JosieB68

You are my hero right now! I’ve wantes to watch Malcolm again for ages and had no idea it was on there!

@SingToTheSky

I would say The Middle, but it was removed from Prime recently :( I was only halfway through - gutted.
I’m so fed up about that! I’d watched it from when it very first started and was so happy that it was added to Prime, it’s one of those shows that I could just put on any random episode and enjoy.

I agree with Life in Pieces - some of it is very funny.

I tried Schitts Creek but couldn't even get through the first episode. I didn't find it funny at all. 🤷‍♀️

You won’t regret Schitt’s Creek, it is funny and gorgeous

I don't know how, but I started watching One Day At A Time on Netflix.

It was really really good and quite touching too , similar to some episodes of Modern Family.

It's about a single mum who lives with her 2 children and her rather fabulous mother with a landlord above (non shifty or creepy!) who keeps popping in most episodes.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 22/10/2020 21:03

I second the Brooklyn 99 recommendation too.

I've rewatched it a few times from series 1 onwards and it's fabulous. The characters really go on properly written arcs, it's wholesome and you root for all of them (... except maybe Hitchcock. and Gina but Gina is my own personal opinion - she's meant to be an antagonist.)

Laurendelight · 22/10/2020 21:04

We watched The Middle and American Housewife.

Laurendelight · 22/10/2020 21:05

Sorry cross post - didn't know it had been taken off. The Middle had some really funny physical comedy moments.
