Did anyone watch this?
Sounds horrible to work there!

Was going too. What channel was it on?

nitgel · 02/10/2020 22:09

Why horrible? I liked the young florist, she seemed quite happy in her job. Weird customers though like the car dealer couple. Just odd.

purpleme12 · 02/10/2020 22:26

I mean the manager boss type person. I wouldn't like him as my boss

And then Gordon Ramsay....

purpleme12 · 02/10/2020 22:26

It's on itv player

I thought Gordon Ramsay was an embarrassment. So little respect for a team of people who are well renowned.
This show was made by his production company and his ego has got out of control.

Once upon a time, I stayed in one of those river view rooms and they are lovely but not worth the premium.

I thought florist girl needed to tie her hair back to look a bit more professional when she was visiting the guests in their suite.

purpleme12 · 03/10/2020 21:58

I actually thought Gordon Ramsay put an act on when he was all horrible but I guess it isn't an act....
It's definitely disrespectful... And upsetting if I was working there

Just caught up on the first couple of episodes. Love MaryKate the trainee florist and I wonder how it pans out for the new butler.... I enjoy hotel TV shows (I've worked in the industry) and its great to see the ins and outs of a place I'd never be able to afford to stay at....or eat at!

motorcyclenumptiness · 10/10/2020 09:16

Why are the butlers always picking their noses??

doodlejump1980 · 10/10/2020 09:19

We spent most of the show going “HOW MUCH??????” Some of the figures to stay a night were obscene. £1000 for a bunch of roses?? The world’s gone mad.

purpleme12 · 10/10/2020 09:27

@motorcyclenumptiness

Why are the butlers always picking their noses??
🤣

Was this in this week's? In middle of watching this week's

In my past life I worked is some high end restaurants and hotels in London, not in Savoy mind. OP That's how they all are, some very sharp tongued people end up as your managers and supervisors. Chefs in general can be horrible. GR has the responsibility for the restaurant though and it's reputation, considering it'll cost a lot of money to eat in there. Usually being badgered by the head chef doesn't end up in the telly though. I'm glad to be out of the trade now!

I felt sorry for Lynda Bellingham's son, fair play to him though getting on with it when the acting career didn't materialise.

icelolly99 · 10/10/2020 10:05

It will be interesting to see what happens in the hotel as it progresses into March and onwards lockdown time.

TweeBree · 10/10/2020 16:01

I'm enjoying it but the scene with Thierry using the wrong knife in front of Ramsey felt contrived. Surely with all of his experience, he'd know immediately the knife wasn't right and excuse himself to grab a new one.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/10/2020 18:12

Catching up now. The head butler seems a bit of a bully. Definitely wouldn't want to work for him. The American twins are hilarious!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/10/2020 19:20

And yes. GR was dreadful.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/10/2020 20:00

Love Mary Kate. Good luck to her!

icelolly99 · 10/10/2020 20:32

@Toddlerteaplease I liked how the Head Butler said when he started out they could get a bit of a whack from your boss back in the day. I don't think he's a bully; he's got high expectations. I've worked with much worse.

purpleme12 · 10/10/2020 21:14

£25 for a cocktail!

Gosh I don't think it would be for me then!

I didn't realise he was her son. Must have missed that bit

If my boss was shouting and swearing at me, like they do there. I think I'd quit. Do they put up
With it because they know they are lucky to work there. Or is it an industry thing. I don't think having high expectations is a good enough result.

purpleme12 · 11/10/2020 08:50

I agree that their managing style is all wrong.

OP posts:
icelolly99 · 11/10/2020 09:15

I think it's quite typical for the industry. But it is interesting to see the different management styles; especially between the men and women managers.

Ontheboardwalk · 14/10/2020 22:35

I'm pleased that a Salford boy made good but annoyed that he thought it entertaining his kids found it funny his childhood bedroom was smaller than their closets.

Maybe not the message I’d have wanted everyone to come away with

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 14/10/2020 22:41

The contemptuous expressions on the faces of those who work for the head butler.
