Have caught up with it. The ending was a shocker!

Oooh I LOVE this show! DP got me hooked! Waiting impatiently for the next ep. We're wondering who Dark Noir is under the mask - DP reckons a Homelander clone. I think the invisible supe may well be Maverick- the son of Translucent. If Ryan has some sort of ability from having Homelander as a dad - glowy eyes- Maverick could well be able to go invisible. Anyone reckon Stormfront might be trying to have another baby, too? They handled her turn from being cool and new to total bitch very well.

I would also love to see Ashley get some sort of comeuppance! I think Maeve might like do that. Can't stand A-Train but interested in his character angle- that Fresca drink he and Deep like is a kool aid perhaps?

I like that idea about the Fresca - very literal symbolism. The most recent ep was making me think of the Scientologists, with the brutal "we don't like Eagle any more" approach.

Was Black Noir ever unmasked in the comics? I don't know much about them.

DH also things black noir is a homelander clone. Which would bode well for the nut allergy!

Back over lockdown I painted our hallway a colour called “lamplighter” and my friend gave me some “mothers milk” teabags that were sitting on the shelf. DH commented he thought I was taking the fandom to extremes.

@ReeseWitherfork why does your DH think that? I think they have similar powers and operate in a similar way. He was the "spare" maybe? So they put him to use. The nut allergy would therefore be an excellent weakness!

I think Translucents child was called Maverick? I think that was mentioned in s2e1 at that weird funeral. Homelander seemed pretty invested in him- because he could be useful, perhaps. DP also thinks the lady who escaped Sage Grove (I can't remember her name) might be the invisible killer because she can make things happen around her without touching them- so she could kill at a distance. He's a bit uncanny at guessing, he nearly always guesses whodunit (he guessed nearly every perpetrator and plot twist of life on mars & ashes to ashes except for Gene being the dead rookie- he's still not over that one!) and said "I wonder what happened to that Lamp Lighter bloke " before the episode he turned up in.

As for Stormfront... the curse of long life means she'd have to live out the same life cycle she had before and possibly watch her child die again. But she seems longing for someone- perhaps she's just using Homelander or she wants the perfect super family. Interestingly the show hasn't yet answered whether supes beget supes or whether their kids get compound v to perpetuate the myth.

Maybe I've been a bit harsh on Ashley, the job is her comeuppance! But she's still not especially pleasant and I'm sure she'll meet a bad end.

She is referred to as “Eleven” in this house! DH thought it might be her but I think it must be the same person who killed Susan Raynor which I assume rules her out.

I don’t remember mention of Maverick so I may have to go back and rewatch.

@ReeseWitherfork, I agree with you, I think it's unlikely to be knock-off eleven. Even if Stormfront snuck her out - since she seems to be able to meddle in Sage Grove- Not-Eleven is way too volatile to be a hired assassin!

Do Supes automatically beget supes though and if so, do their exact powers pass down? Ryan has some powers- presumably they'll grow as he grows and he has Homelanders laser eyes, suggesting a proper mini Homelander- to some degree. Deep mentions his powers kicking in at some point in childhood rather than from birth, so Ryan could be more powerful as he ages - he can't fly... yet, for example.

Therefore, Translucents kid may well be invisible (hence why I think he could be the invisible assassin). It's implied that Stormfront had a normal daughter though. She had a normal lifespan, aged normally and got dementia. Was this a choice on her part back in the day? Was Chloe pre-V or born before it was refined? Is it not a guarantee that a supe begets supes? Is it a male thing?

I think the premis is an absolute hoot. However... I’m not certain about the execution. I do love the idea of the superhero franchise being run by a cynical, soulless corporation and the heroes being mostly terrible drugged you people.

Reminds me of the Trump campaign a bit actually (especially after the Covid-did-he-or-didn’t-he episode).

Butcher’s aunt’s accent is even bloody worse than his. Did they go to some special dick van dyke accent school....?

I haven’t got there yet. Someone doing his dialogue is definitely British (although there was a couple of expressions used incorrect). Makes a change.

I think he’s a kiwi (maybe I just think that because he’s in LOTR?) but I do find kiwi/Oz/SA have a peculiar take on the English accent. Always a bit harder to listen to than Americans doing it.
