(And I don't often say that)

This 'tough love' for babies is just sadism

"Not since Katie Hopkins smarmed her way through The Apprentice have the women of Britain been so united in hatred."

and

"Mothers want to punch their way into the TV to grab her by the throat.

Child abuse experts are queuing up to denounce her.

The mumsnet chatroom is calling for her cold, unfeeling heart to be torn out and nailed to the front of Mothercare."

I agree MyEye...I don't mind MN being associated with anti-CV feeling at all!

ruty · 10/10/2007 16:01

the bit about Romanian orphanages being significant for their silence really sums it up.

3andnogore · 10/10/2007 16:14

Brilliant article

UnquietDad · 10/10/2007 22:06

CV's not going to be a "Dirty Dancing" fan, is she?

"Nobody puts Baby in the corner... yes, actually, I DO! And don't TOUCH it!"

Elizabetth, my feelings in a nutshell. Claire Verity's methods are odious but it is C4 and the stupendously dim Daisy who have given her all this publicity.
I do love Allison Pearson even if she has gone over to The Tabloid Side

i just think it's a bit lazy. whenever there is something to write about a baby "expert" rather than doing proper research they just go onto mumsnet and see what we think.

Monkeytrousers · 11/10/2007 09:55

I can't read about this without getting upset and welling up for those poor babies - and the problems them and their parents might be creating for themselves.

I can't believe this is supposed to be entertaiment! It's just horrific. It is an established fact the harm cortisol can do to the newborn brain, if it is flooded with it again and again, i.e left to cry for hour and hours.

Hello - total newbie here. So glad this site was pointed out to me. Can I vent my spleen here? I have been on to the Channel 4 site but feel my thoughts on this awful woman may be censored! I can no longer bear to watch this so called "experiment" (where is the control family doing it for themselves without any guru or manual if it's an experiment?). And don't get me started on that harridan (although, if she did boff Mick Jagger, there is at least some hope for me and David Bowie!). How can these parent bare to let her do the starvie/stuffy thing with the twins so they can have a glass of wine! And I'm not sure if this was a dream, but did she babysit for the twins parents and just let them bawl for ages (the babies, not the parents) with the statement "They're not mine, they won't get the better of me"? I so hope that was my imagination! If there is a positive to this programme, it's that my daughter and son get even more cuddles than they did before. Sorry to ramble, I'll shut up now!
