Anyone watching? I’m on episode 3. It’s so good!

OP posts:
TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 22/09/2020 09:46

I put it on my watch list yesterday but haven't started it yet. Maybe later today :)

DarkDarkNight · 22/09/2020 22:00

No but I’m looking forward to it. I watched the first couple of series of AHS and like the actress. I haven’t seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest since I was a teen but it is such an interesting idea for a series.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 23/09/2020 18:28

Love this so much!

OldLeatherSuitcase · 24/09/2020 20:40

Is it scary? Or very dark? I'm thinking of starting watching but am feeling a little fragile today so wondering if I need something more feel good.

I usually like dark and quirky TV though, but it depends whether it veers into being scary or truly disturbing. From the trailer it looks like it has a comedic side.

Gertie75 · 24/09/2020 21:55

I've finished watching it tonight, I love Sarah Paulson, it's not scary but is gruesome in parts, the storyline was good though and it wasn't gratuitous.

OldLeatherSuitcase · 24/09/2020 22:26

Thanks Gertie75

cuteglasses · 26/09/2020 09:42

Loved it!
Sharon Stone mispronounced "larynx"
Said "Larnyx"
Wonder why they kept it in?

OldLeatherSuitcase · 26/09/2020 13:21

I tried watching it last night but found it too difficult - mainly because there's nothing likeable or relatable about Ratched.

Also I felt like it might give me nightmares!

ImFree2doasiwant · 01/10/2020 21:44

Does it get less brutal after the first 10 minutes?

theneverendinglaundry · 02/10/2020 19:43

I thought it was very daft in places but overall I enjoyed it.

Not as gruesome or full on as American Horror Story.

KurriKawari · 03/10/2020 15:48

It seems to be trying too hard and some scenes to be there for shock value than because they add to the plot. And not even one likeable character.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 04/10/2020 06:56

Watched a bit but not really impressed.
loved the colours though

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 04/10/2020 07:19

I've seen the first two episodes, creepy. Not sure I want to see more.

AuntieMarys · 04/10/2020 07:23

We are on episode 7 . I love it. Ridiculously melodramatic, wonderful music and costumes.

Dinocan · 04/10/2020 07:29

Well I’m nearly at the end so I guess I’ve kind of enjoyed it. Very gruesome and a bit silly but love the style of the sets and costumes. I actually had no idea that nurse ratched was meant to be a villain! My take on her in ofotcn was that she was a woman believing she was doing the best for her patients at the time, keeping order over a bunch of unstable and (sometimes very unpleasant) men, and carrying out doctors orders. I always saw a human side to that characters I’m glad they’ve shown that in the Netflix series. Dh thought i was a psycho to sympathise with her but after explaining my rationale he now agrees she’s an unfairly maligned character. Anyone else?

linerforlife · 04/10/2020 07:53

Just finished it - loved it!!!

AlphaJura · 04/10/2020 09:35

I love AHS and think Sarah Paulson is an excellent actress. I love the style and colours in it. Some of it is a bit disturbing, some of the things the mental health patients do and some of the treatments make me feel a bit queasy! I'm on episode 4.. going to watch all of it.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 06/10/2020 01:37

I actually found almost all the characters to be a little bit sympathetic in a way. The brother became less terrifying than the nurse he escaped with is one example and the main doctor had good intentions Confused, I guess.
SurferRona · 10/10/2020 20:03

Reminds me so much of Wes Anderson films?! I’m really enjoying it, it’s OTT and kitsch, but great to see Judy Davies back on screen for me. Hoping whoever has the rights on linear tv will show OFOTCN sometime soon

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 10/10/2020 23:35

I'm on episode 4 and loving it so far. Agree that the colours are wonderful.

Its scary that they really were treatments used on mh patients :(

SunsetBeetch · 11/10/2020 14:48

I'm in two minds whether to watch this. I don't really rate Sarah Paulson: she only seems to have one facial expression.

Is it made by the same people as American Horror Story? Cause I would rate that quite good at times to downright disappointing at others

vjg13 · 13/10/2020 20:38

It is one of the producers of AHS and a very similar style. I enjoyed it, loved the colour and costumes.

MozzchopsThirty · 16/10/2020 12:15

I started this yesterday
Quite enjoying it

nitgel · 17/10/2020 22:17

Loved this Charlotte def the best. Really good story.

Greysparkles · 25/10/2020 12:34

I enjoyed it, bit struggled with the age of the character Sarah paulson was playing.
I honestly though she was going to be his mother. Not his sister!
