New drama which chronicles the individual journeys of a man and woman who arrive on a mysterious island at different times

3 parts - summer ,autumn and Winter And 7 episodes

Summer follows Sam (Jude law) drawn to the island

Autumn will be a live episode after summer is shown

Winter follows Helen a strong willed outsider who comes to the island seeking answers

Hope it’s not like lost which I never watched but hear ending was crap

But

It’s has The very sexy Mark Lewis Jones in it

And you don't need NowTV to watch the livestream - it's all on Facebook.

Rollergirl11 · 14/10/2020 12:30

@DanglySpider surely it works have been better broadcasting on a tv channel rather than on Facebook? That’s the main reason why I didn’t watch it, not interested in watching it on my phone! Don’t really understand why HBO made that decision if I’m honest.

The episode last night was good. Can’t believe there’s only one more left.

DanglySpider · 14/10/2020 12:38

It's because it was designed to be a theatrical experience - they'd been planning it for seven years, so the whole point of having the 12 hour livestream between the six episodes was to create an experience rather than a telly show. Originally, they were going to sell tickets to the 23 hour livestream so it would have had a live crowd attending the festival, but covid meant they had to leave out the live audience and just do it with the cast and supporting artists.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2020 12:46

Will watch last nights tonight

Go on then Dangly, what’s the goss from behind the scenes?! 😂

Jodri · 14/10/2020 13:36

@DanglySpider that’s so interesting! Yes please tell us you titbits. I didn’t know it was streamed Facebook.
I can understand where they are coming from using Facebook live; people are changing they way access their entertainment, films, news. Makes it accessible to a whole new audience too.

DanglySpider · 14/10/2020 13:50

Ok - so there's not much in the way of actual gossip, but I do know that - the stream was recorded an hour in advance of it going out, to allow for emergencies and quick reshoots. This did actually happen in the bit where Jude was on the pole as little Esus's dive off it wasn't caught by the camera first time around.
There were four cameras all working in rotation, so only one camera live at a time, but obvs as it was a 12 hr shoot, they had to relay the camerapeople, as I think the vast majority of it was handheld.
There was a bit where the camera fell sideways and landed on a table - everyone thought that something bad must have happened to the cameraman, and I had visions of paramedics being called in out of shot, but no, it was deliberate, and I know this because my friend showed me the notes.
hmmm, what else do I know.... That there was a massive spit-roasted lamb out of shot that was feeding all the villagers - why they didn't get it in shot I'll never know, because it would have just lent a lot to the whole feasting thing. I did also hear that Katherine Waterston is the loveliest, most down-to-earth person, and so are MLJ and Paul Kaye. I'm sure it's not the case that the others aren't lovely though - they all seemed to have the most amazing time. And apparently the mud baptisms were really quite scary?!

Jodri · 14/10/2020 22:12

Thank you @DanglySpider that’s all so interesting.

DanglySpider · 14/10/2020 22:53

Grin lol, it probably isn't as interesting as I thought it was, but I was very sucked into it all, and of course, extra invested because my friend/colleague was in it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2020 15:55

How cunting lovely 🙀🙀

So how will it end next week

Will they escape the island together as a family of 5?

OP posts:
Rollergirl11 · 21/10/2020 12:57

Watched the last episode last night. I’m sad it’s finished as I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t too sure what was going on with the island splitting into two different factions, that wasn’t explained that well.

So are we meant to think that the boy actually IS Nathan at the end?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/10/2020 22:02

I’m totally lost

But not Nathan. Wrong age colour of eyes let alone Body. Nathan would be black

Nathan on island was white

Abs didn’t the pub lady confess for killing Nathan by mistake

All in all didn’t really get the end

Not did I get why Jess daughter pipped sam

If a girl is better then why aren’t his daughter in line

Or is it always the youngest - hence was Nathan

Now is Jess baby

Rollergirl11 · 24/10/2020 23:26

@Blondeshavemorefun yes I know that the boy can’t be Nathan, as Helen said he’s too young and white, etc. But at the end the boy says to her that he never believed that she meant what she said. Helen admitted to the pub lady that the last thing she’d said to Nathan before he disappeared was that she wished he’d never been born. She said that she’d never ever told anyone that. But he knew. So was it meant to be Nathan’s soul in the boy?

I think that ideally they had wanted Sam as the father of the island. But they admitted that it wasn’t going well and some of the islanders weren’t happy with Sam. Jess’ baby is a direct descendant and also born on the island so I’m assuming that trumps any of Sam’s children with Helen.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2020 03:11

Ah yes being born on the island prob trumps

Why was the landlady killed

And the one on the beach

They all seem murdering nutters

Why anyone would want to live there is beyond me

Rollergirl11 · 25/10/2020 07:53

There is civil unrest on the island, the inhabitants had split in to those that still believed in Sam and wanted him to continue to be the Father and the rebels that think he has done nothing and are backing Jess and her baby. The pub lady, Paddy Considine and Paul Kaye still believed in Sam and were trying to help him so I think that is why they were killed.

It was always said that when the island is out of balance that bad things happen, and that it is always like this when a new father is being selected. But I think really they are all just pagan nut jobs aren’t they??! 😂
