Can anyone tell me whodunnit (both murders) and why?

The old woman - the one with the accent. She was romantically involved with the guy that was hung (hanged?) - he was using her of course. He got her to kill his mother and used the lift for an alibi.

She then killed the other woman because of her claiming to know stuff.

She confessed when miss marple laid on the guilt trip about her being the kids real mother and how much the kids had all suffered being accused and how she could save them by confessing.

So she did.

And miss marple went back to St Mary Mead.

  • not real birth mother of course. Real as in the one who truly loved them like a mother.

Except for the one that was executed.....she went off him when his wife showed up on the doorstep - that's why she let him die.

Ohhhh. Thank you. Julian Rhind-Tutt, previously rather gorgeous in the Green Wing looked less than attractive with that dodgy slicked, side-parting look!

Don't know who that is, tbh - but didn't the wife of the guy with polio remind you of Lisa Stansfield?

I think they are making these Marples up as they go along. The one last night, I don't think Marple even features in the originial book

TinyGang · 01/10/2007 09:17

I think it was Lisa Stansfield.

flowerybeanbag · 01/10/2007 09:28

No she isn't in the book.

These new Miss Marples, each one gets further away from the real book, it irritates me no end.

Usually they feel the necessity to bung in a lesbian couple for no apparent reason as well. Of course nothing against lesbian couples, but it does seem a bit gratuitous!

Mind you, last week's At Bertram's Hotel bore even less of a resemblance to the book than last night's. So many new characters and plotlines invented it was ridiculous. Arrrrghhh!

I thought that about Bertrams as well. The Poirot stories keep a bit better to the actual plotline of the book. Not sure if I like these Marples.

I'm so glad you asked ! You mean Alison Steadman did it ? We fell asleep long before the end so who else died then , the "wife"?

RustyBear · 01/10/2007 15:46

I had to read that summary three times before I realised it was the plot of Ordeal by Innocence -which didn't have Miss Marple in last time I read it!
