I’ve got a job interview as a soap writer at the bbc next week.

Just wondering if you could give me any ideas about what you’d love to see happen in Easties! Any character ideas? Any actors you think are underused?

The cockney accent is alive and well in the real eastend!
( I also have distant relatives who have moved away from the East end and now speak like Danny Dyer more than they did when they used to live there! Lol

Yes to a Whitney getting a happy ending with someone nice and normal! Not a murderer or turns out to be gay or wanting her money or something similar! Just nice!

I think it was on ch4 it was on last week and I'm sure it had adverts.

Shirley is so underused as is Denise who I think is my favourite character. Jack and D is ridiculous together.

I think ' the real eastenders' was on channel four and was on last Wednesday, ten pm. It's not on this week so might have been a one off programme. More 4 might have it on ?
It's exciting hearing from an actual script writer ! I hope they make Gray pay for his abuse. Put him away for good!

Loads more of Shirley, she needs someone to bounce off of like Heather. Shirley is my favourite character by far. And I still remember her and Hev together, they were amazing. Best scene ever was when she was calling the cat up the tree "Craig Revel Horwood" 😂😂

Please bring ' cousin of Heather ' to the square ( but the same actress ! ) 😀
She was one of my all time favorite characters yet cruelly killed off by Ben and a photo frame! I've never recovered really !
She was such a nice decent person and had a heart of gold.

Bring back some humour. The best episodes were when Fatboy was heavily involved in something or when Danny Dyer and Ian or Phil or Billy had man-to-man chats.

@eatsleepread they are back at work, they've started filming again. Not sure when it's back on screen, but i read that they were thinking of doing 20 minute episodes for a short time

Have some people move to the square who have a job in the city or elsewhere in London and have to commute with all the hassle that involves. They could live in the flats that were built by Ian a few years back and have a washing machine!

You could then introduce an upmarket coffee ship or bistro/dessert shop in contrast to the traditional cafe and contrast the new versus old.

Less screeching and shouting and more of the mundane family life with interesting characters. Coronation street does mundane well with good characters but I feel Eastenders has drifted from this

I was reading a where are they now apparently the actor who played Darren didn't like bring famous or recognised I don't think he acts anymore.

A bit of humour would be good but not forced or silly ; just people having a laugh or some banter!

Maybe George could come back and live with Shirley?

(And if I see this on Eastenders, I want my creative writing royalties!)

Don't change anything drastic. Yes it can be miserable and a little humour would def be great. No massive changes though as the basis of Eastenders has worked so well for so long 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah George is definitely on the cards to come back and live with Shirl, probably when he is a difficult teenager who seeks revenge on Ben Mitchell.

Janine would be a good call as well.

I was thinking about storylines last night.

Maybe a Long Lost family/who do think you are storyline, whereby someone turns up seeking a relative of their birth mother.

Eastern European family would be good.

I personally would like the baby to be Phil's after all and they moving into the Vic where they belong and being happy for once.

Please stop people having random affairs, especially out of the blue with no story behind it.
Have some consistency behind the characters, show character growth etc-eg having Ben zig zag between loving Calum...incredibly stupid plan to off Keanu because otherwise Phil would turn to alcohol again....breaking up with Calum for his own good....Calum getting captured and Ben going crazy/splitting with his dad ...suddenly getting into random and stupid gangster plot with Phil for no reason and lying to Calum...is inconsistent and doesn’t ‘reward’ fans who invest in their relationship. Situations change way too quickly and viewers (especially elderly ones like my parents) get totally confused.
