This is the 4th and final series of this Canadian Noir.

2 episodes a night and I think available to stream all www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09l5h8k/broadcasts/upcoming

And I am sure the announcer said previous series available.

Yes@JemimaTab that's what I remember. There was a picture of him on the roof after her art shots. They found it on a flash drive later. So he had actually pushed her off.

IntermittentParps · 18/06/2020 10:42

Really? I don't remember that. Why did he kill her?

stormsurfer · 18/06/2020 11:46

@IntermittentParps because she had worked out his secret of him making patients write suicide notes and persuading them towards taking their own lives.

JemimaTab · 18/06/2020 11:46

TBH I was beginning to lose interest a bit at that point - I think it was something to do with his own psychological issues from when he was a child?

IntermittentParps · 18/06/2020 11:50

Ah, OK, thanks!

stumbledin · 18/06/2020 13:55

I watched the last two episodes last night, and I dont know why but I found them quite flat.

Not that I wanted any of the previous prolonged violence, but it almost felt padded out.

He should have listened to his daughter and started a new life. Not fall back into the trap of being so caught up in work your life passes you by.

I wonder why Lise didn't say something more proactive about (maybe) wanting him to come with her. She was obviously upset in the final hug. But now I think he would probably just have turned into a bit of a burden.

Maybe it will be 3rd time lucky for her.

Also, dont want to sound trivial, probably just me, but i actually didn't recognise her with her hair down. I suppose she had her at work style, grim and purposeful. She came over as much more in charge of her life ie being purposeful. He was just a bit obsessive and happy to let events control what happened to him. (My memory is that he was useless with this wife.)

Also, and I may be wrong, doesn't if always end up with the Detective Jerry(?) saving Cardinal by appearing at the right moment.

Sorry, still feeling a bit grumpy and feeling let down. Smile

i actually didn't recognise her with her hair down. Me either! I think she looks better with it up, TBH.
I think she didn't try to make him go with her because she thought if she persuaded him, and he wasn't happy in the city, she'd (and maybe he) would feel like it was her fault.

stormsurfer · 18/06/2020 15:03

I agree. She actually seemed the smarter out the two of them. I think she know he wasn't ready to move on.

IntermittentParps · 18/06/2020 17:11

Yep. Sadly!
I do think it leaves doors open for another series (even if the author has to write another book first Grin) – she could have to come from Toronto for some work reason, or he could have to go there. Or John could carry on but with a new colleague, Lise's replacement? Although I really liked her character and the actor's performance.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/06/2020 17:43

Thanks for the tip-off.

Beebumble2 · 19/06/2020 05:51

Loved the series, binged watched. I’m a bit nit picky so it annoyed me when the flower seller (part2) sold the hit man an orchid with no wrapping in what must have been several degrees below freezing. Then the mother on her mobility scooter had a bunch of unwrapped flowers.
Murder of flowers and people!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/06/2020 22:58

Am now engrossed in the first series - the poor burglar has just got stabbed. I am worried sick about Keith. This is great!

stormsurfer · 19/06/2020 23:44

@SchadenfreudePersonified glad you're gripped! I'm sad I've finished them all.... looking for something to replace it now.

PickAChew · 19/06/2020 23:52

Hoping I get chance to watch this. Need to remember how many series I've previously seen, though! I think this might be something that disappeared off iPlater when I wasn't even all the way through watching it - I've lost track of a few things because they do that.

stumbledin · 20/06/2020 00:17

Looks like all episodes are available on iPlayer at the moment www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b09l5h8k/cardinal?seriesId=b08cj57y

Ooh, good. Now I just need DS1 to bugger off to his room, rather than Disapprove of me watching stuff.

Wemayhavemetbefore · 21/07/2020 10:31

Spoiler alert, looks like most people here have watched all of series 4, but just in case, look away from my questions below if you haven't!

SPOILER
How did Scott find out who the four were? Sheelagh had left the scene straight away and at that point Scott wasn't even sure she was a woman (police interview). None of the others were easily identifiable.
Why didn't Scott have a mobile to call for help when Rebecca was injured - or would there have been a signal problem out there?

Pedestrian questions I know! I found this series less violent than the first three, and preferable for that reason. Love Lise - and my advice to Cardinal would have been to move to ?Toronto to be with her. But sadly I agree with the pp who thinks he might have become a burden to her - so perhaps all for the best that she meets someone else!

Wemayhavemetbefore · 21/07/2020 20:14

Bumping my question for the evening Cardinal contingent - don't look if you haven't seen all of series 4!

stormsurfer · 21/07/2020 22:53

I don't remember the names!! Was it the ones in the wood? I think he saw them and they were all involved with the company that was conspiring to use the land?

Sorry, seems like ages ago when I watched it :(

Wemayhavemetbefore · 22/07/2020 08:40

Ha yes, i was writing as if everyone else (like me) would have just finished watching it - whereas of course most people did in June! Yes, I meant how had Scott eventually found out who the four people in the woods were so that he could target them? He didn't know at the time, because he couldn't tell the police their names - part of the reason he was convicted! So how did he find out later?

Loved the snowy landscapes, despite their lethal consequences!
