How does Waking the Dead compare to Silent Witness?

I think looking back at series 1 of Waking the Dead and it looks quite low tech compared to series 23 of Silent Witness. But if it were reversed then I think it'd be the same!

Waking the Dead was brilliant, I was gutted when it ended.

Just finished Silent Witness series 6-23 after introducing DH to it.

Where can I find Waking the Dead please? We have Virgin, Amazon Prime and Netflix

Also thought it was the same show, otherwise the differance is Trevor Eve / Boyd shouts a lot and in SW pathologist always gets kidnapped or her BF is the killer, often both .
The boys name thing is so the writers can have a few scenes with the CPS bursting into the office asking the young lady to fetch the doctor ...
lady " i am the doctor "
CPS " yes but i wanted Sam "
lady " yes i am Sam,its short for Samantha "
CPS " oh well bugger me ! " etc

WTD always seems to have depressing endings with stupidly loud end music to wake up the neighbours .

I'd never thought about that reason for the names - Just so the misogynistic DCI who is still stuck in the 70's can tell some little lass to

"Get us a cuppa tea, love, and tell yer boss Dr Sam Ryan we need to talk to him. And a biscuit would be nice."

"I AM Dr Sam Ryan. What can I do for you, officer?"

"Well - bugger me sideways through a raincoat! And you a soft-voiced wumman!"

It's so obvious now that I know - I.m disappointed that I didn't work this out myself.

I watched waking the dead first time around and then thought we would watch it after we watched all of silent witness, but we just couldn't get into it as much. Less high tech and just seemed old.

The two main things I remember about 'Waking the Dead' are Claire Goose;'s character falling off a tower-block on to a car, and Felicite du Jeu slapping a nonce suspect and getting a look from Boyd which might well have been admiration.

Ah, I have now watched Series 5 episodes 3 and 4 - Black Run. It's quite confusing.

But 5 and 6 - Subterranean was quite straight forward, far fetched but straight forward!

Sorry, but I also read it as Walking Dead and thought “well, I don’t think the corpses on Silent Witness try to make you into a buffet”.

Not helpful, but it’s made me chuckle, which is always a good thing.

I think they are very similar. I watched both a long time ago and they get muddled together in my memory.

I do think as you are only watching them now, they will probably seem quite dated.
