Pride and prejudice is on BBC 4 at 8pm... episode 1. You’re welcome 😊

I've just rewatched this on Netflix, my 15 year old daughter walked through and then she binge watched it all! She loved it.

"You have delighted us long enough" Grin

One of my all-time favourite lines, that one.

ppeatfruit · 18/05/2020 09:16

Yes fleamaker IMO THAT is the best bit between them in the film. Because SHE is finally in love with him.

onlook I like the line to her oldest sister about her thinking it was the grounds of Pemberley that changed her rmind!!

MrsJamin

I would also recommend the BBC version of Persuasion with Ciaran Hinds. It's the best Austen IMO, much as I love P & P.

This remains my all time favourite period drama. I said at the start of lockdown I could do with a P&P binge, and voila!

TheCraicDealer · 19/05/2020 02:09

After DD was born in September I used to take her downstairs in the mornings while DH slept on (I got a nap in the afternoon). It was our special time together, and by three weeks old we'd watched the 1995 P&P, the 2008-2009 BBC Emma and Sense & Sensibility, Sandition (even DH was unimpressed with that), the Cairan Hinds Persuasion and North & South. It was tough but I felt it was my duty as a mother Grin DH used to stroll in and say, "who's that? Why's she being a dick?" etc, get a coffee and then pretend not to watch whatever was on.

I really wish they'd remaster the BBC P&P. It was done so right- six episodes was what was needed, you can't do the story justice in a film.

ppeatfruit · 19/05/2020 06:40

WOW The Craic ! That's real dedication Grin

I agree about P&P needing the 6 eps. The remastered version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is always being reshown somewhere on weekend telly!

I agree. It is perfect.

MrsJamin · 19/05/2020 23:09

Agh, it's not on iPlayer! I've never seen it. Is the movie of Love and Friendship any good, with Kate beckensale in it?

Iamthewombat · 19/05/2020 23:16

1995 P&P is so great. I never tire of it. I’ve never seen a better Darcy, or Lizzy, or Mr & Mrs Bennett, or Lydia, or Mr Collins.

margotsdevil · 19/05/2020 23:50

The 1995 BBC is miles better than the KK film however I do like Dame Judi as Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Add her to the 1995 cast and you'd have perfection!

ppeatfruit · 20/05/2020 08:49

Yes we were saying that upthread margots Judy is a great LCdeB.

I always feel a bit sorry for her poor daughter. JA isn't kind to her.

Fleamaker123 · 20/05/2020 10:07

Didn't Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle have a relationship after filming Wink

Iamthewombat · 20/05/2020 10:40

Yes. Lucky old Jennifer!

Fleamaker123 · 20/05/2020 13:36

Indeed..Grin

Fleamaker123 · 20/05/2020 13:39

Bet there was a bit of role play Grin

Sorry I'll stop now.
