Yep, Rolling Stones were great. Mick Jagger still has it.

Jellykat · 19/04/2020 21:16

Elton singing I'm Still Standing sounded a lot like Vic Reeves singing in "the club style" Smile

Did anyone else think the presenters should not have been together in a studio, they gained nothing that they couldn't have really done on Zoom or whatever, surely? Just a bad example, am surprised.

No I'm not banging on about The Rules - and obviously they were social distancing - but I thought it was an unnecessary gathering. (Presenters plus all the film crew etc)

AgeLikeWine · 19/04/2020 21:19

@GinWithASplashOfTonic Agreed, The Stones are amazing.

@Jellykat I didn’t see McCartney, but I will take your word for it. In with Elton he goes.

Anonuser1 · 19/04/2020 21:20

I'm not a Stones fan but they were great I agree.

Wishforsnow · 19/04/2020 21:21

The stones were brilliant

Sunshine1239 · 19/04/2020 21:24

Just tuned in

Is this the one many Americans are protesting given it’s to raise cash for WHO?

JellyNo15 · 19/04/2020 21:25

Why wasn’t Elton pronouncing “s”? He was singing I’m til danting!!!!

I'm assuming they used those particular presenters because they are still going into the studios to be on the radio (I think?) so they probably filmed it when they were already there at work. But could be wrong!

covetingthepreciousthings · 19/04/2020 21:42

Although actually maybe they should have just had one of them instead of all of them.

covetingthepreciousthings · 19/04/2020 21:44

I'm watching it now, but wish they'd cut out some of the chatty bits and the bits with the kids etc, and just had the music.

Who has been cut out from the original broadcast? Anyone worth looking up?

Clawdy · 19/04/2020 22:09

What was the Nigerian guy's name? I loved that bit.

Elderflower14 · 19/04/2020 22:20

HuckfromScandal · 19/04/2020 22:24

imnottoofussed · 19/04/2020 22:29

Burna boy I think

scaryreading · 19/04/2020 22:40

@Curiousdad18

Definitely, said the same to my dh.

He also sang lower on "I'm still standing" bit

poor old Paul, he sounded old

covetingthepreciousthings · 19/04/2020 22:44

Is Elton John not well? That was really bizarre, but made me wonder if he's maybe not well? I think he had cancer the other year but kept it under wraps from the media.

Sorry I'm behind everyone.

Loved Billie Joe.

TheFutureIs · 19/04/2020 23:01

He had pneumonia a little while ago

LolaGrace · 19/04/2020 23:02

I loved Celine - lady gags ruined the prayer for me!

TheChosenTwo · 19/04/2020 23:26

I watched with the kids. Dh went upstairs muttering under his breath about Macca. Fair enough really. He needs to be put away now.
What was Elton going on about ‘till tanding’ - very odd.
Anyway, the kids enjoyed it and it was some nice relief from a lot of the doom and gloom, plus I liked the good intentions behind it and the money raised from the people who can afford it. Not a big plug for money from us mere minions, a lot of whom are worried about our own financial situations.

pinkhousesarebest · 20/04/2020 09:31

Taylor Swift had us in tears. That song was written for her mum who has terminal cancer. She sang it so beautifully.

MadisonAvenue · 20/04/2020 14:34

Billie Joe Armstrong had my in tears, I love that song.
Green Day are absolutely my favourite band and I have tickets to see them again in June and although it’s not yet been cancelled it’s just a matter of time before it is, and I saw LA in one of the clips while he was singing and we’d booked to go there next month and that won’t be happening either. Two things I was excited about this year and neither will now happen, hence the tears.

pinkhousesarebest · 22/04/2020 20:57

We were ( my dd and I) supposed to be seeing Taylor Swift in aNimes arena on the first day of the holidays. She is devastated and so am I.
