I can't wait. It's still Patrick, Esme and Hugo Boss (used to be known as Joe Lycett). I really love it, everyone looks as though they are enjoying themselves immensely (except when there's 10 mins to go and their zip has just fallen of obviously).

I am thrilled it's back too. and also a bit bleurgh about joe lycett. Patrick is fabulous though although not as great as the haberdashery tbh.

also thrilled that it's on bbc1 and not 2 like it used to be.

Oh, I can't wait, although I do mourn the loss of Claudia. Joe L just isn't that funny.
Still: yay!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 22/04/2020 17:01

Ok, i'm checking in too! Also cannot sew for toffee. I do like Joe Lycett. I too, don't want it to go the way of Bake off - all style, no substance. I don't mind a bit of repetition of previous series'. Just don't make them bake a fortune cookie fgs.

Never watched the sewing bee before but I've just started making some baby clothes for DS and got the bug a bit so looking forward to watching and maybe learning some things!

There are two threads going on this. They all seem a bit self consciously quirky but time will tell.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/04/2020 21:21

Just remembered about it (I'm losing track of the days) so I am 20 minutes behind everybody else.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/04/2020 21:23

Bloody hell!

What has happened to my beautiful Patrick?

Noooo!

I like him looking very debonair with a beard.

TreeTopTim · 23/04/2020 16:49

Good start to the series.

I think the right person went home unfortunately, although I always think they should give them the first week free and no one should go home.

IntermittentParps · 24/04/2020 09:46

Schadenfreude, I thought that. He needs a proper shave, his hair's dreadful and he looks porky. Sad

Still, Esmé made up for it when that guy wanged on about leaving the edges raw on purpose and she just gave him a level gaze and said 'I think you're making that up.' Grin

I think he should have gone home –he messed up majorly on two of the challenges – although Angillia wasn't very good either so I'm not upset that she's gone.

I like the guy who makes clothes for drag queens. He's sweet. And 40s Claire: 'Blast!'

There's another thread here in case you missed it.

Dancer Man was absolutely making it up and I don't think for one second that he expected to be believed. He had a little smile on his face

I agree.

I think Angillia was entitled to another week.

It was her shirt makeover that did it, I think.

Carbosug · 24/04/2020 21:55

I agree with the self consciously quirky comment.
I preferred when they had a mix of creatives, WI types, men sewing for their wives and kids and all just getting on with it because they love sewing. This year seems to be all about wacky characters. This approach has ruined other programmes. I hope the sewing bee isn't going down the same route.

SoupDragon · 25/04/2020 08:45

Absolutely. I think they were neck and neck but her transformation challenge showed no imagination or creativity as well as being poorly sewn. DancerMan's was only poorly sewn.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/04/2020 18:03

I could see that she was worried about trying something too difficult and possibly running out of time with the shirts, but she was too cautious. She could have left the collar and cut away the shoulders and sleeves to make a halter neck top, taken in the waist, added bust darts and maybe used the sleeves with the cuffs still attached as a waist tie/sash and it would have fitted the dummy without too much time spent faffing.
