Just had to look him up to see who you meant, but yes I could deal with him (in a purely platonic way though)

UnquietDad · 14/09/2007 11:35

It's all academic, though. The BBC have given an unprecedented commitment to "Doctor Who" and to Tennant. It's set in stone that, over the next 3 years, there will be at least 18 more episodes featuring David Tennant - 13 ordinary ones, two Christmas editions and three more feature-length specials - plus another 13, possibly featuring Tennant but maybe someone else (in 2010).

It's pretty obvious that the slight change in shooting schedule was done so as to allow DT to pursue other projects but still return to the role.

Ben Miller could be good. Kris Marshall is such an idiot in RL all the behind the scenes/interview stuff would be insufferable

MarinaLaPasionaria · 14/09/2007 11:41

I have just laughed out loud, very loudly, in a library, at the very idea of Richard "Frank Hovis" Coyle being let near the Tardis
Bill Nighy or Eddie Izzard would ensure active maternal interest in "supervising" ds watching the 11th Dr though

serenity · 14/09/2007 12:23

Richard Coyle wasn't Frank Hovis, John Sparkes was. (god I loved Absolutely)

Are you thinking of him being Jeff Murdock in Coupling?

marthamoo · 14/09/2007 12:29

Oh, don't be so sensible, UnquietDad. We love mindless speculation on this site

I've heard that Justin from CBeebies is in the running...

Eddie Izzard might work, actually Trying to visualise Dr Who in a basque, suspenders and stilettos...yup, I can do that.

MarinaLaPasionaria · 14/09/2007 12:33

He does remind of Siadwell (and his chapped anus) though serenity. John Sparkes way more talented than Richard Coyle IMO
Ah those were the days, Morwenna Banks was funny once

UnquietDad · 14/09/2007 12:35

Dr Who in a basque, suspenders and stilettos, if and only if he had to leave Time Lord form and were forced to occupy the body of Sally Sparrow for a year.

TheArmadillo · 14/09/2007 12:40

I think a transvestite dr who would be fantastic, seriously.

I would hate it if it was Daniel Radcliffe.

Although I doubt any of these things should be taken seriously.

I wish Chris Eccleston had lasted longer though - he was brilliant. Has anyone seen his cameo in Heroes, he was great in that too. I think he's a great actor - loads of energy and a real presence on screen. Wish he was on TV more in uk.

Watch what you say about Tom Baker..........keeping 'Classic' and 'Nu' Who seperate, he was the dogs bollocks as far as Doctors went (actually, saying that probably pinpoints my age to within a couple of years lol)

southeatsastras · 14/09/2007 12:55

can't paul mcgann come back? i liked him.

UnquietDad · 14/09/2007 13:00

SEA... I have just noticed your "flip"!

You'd find some soul-mates on Outpost Gallifrey. Every week or so there seems to be a thread devoted to the return of McGann.

TheArmadillo · 14/09/2007 13:15

paul McGann (is that the right brohter?) is in the Dr Who radio plays on BBC7 at mo (MOn-Fri 6pm and midnight on listen again). They are quite good.

southeatsastras · 14/09/2007 13:56

i always liked paul after the monocled mutineer!

i'll tell my son about the radio show, he's obsessed

His autobiog is hilarious, especially the stuff about the taxi driver mistaking him for Jon Pertwee and the times he shagged girls in the Doctor's costume. (ooh, the stuff the actors and fans have got up to at conventions...could fill a book!)
