Does anyone know where the project is tonight. I presume in Ireland but where.

OP posts:

I loved last weeks!!

have to admit delgirl, the waterworks one really made an impact me. i think it was the fact they worked so hard and it looked such an impossible task at the begining. its a shame they havent had an 'update' yet

Bit off subject but they have built an absolutely gorgeous house on the beach here, i am so in awe of it. i keep walking past it with my mouth open and everytime we drive past i point it out to my dh (I am turning into a bore!)

DelGirl · 08/10/2004 12:04

whare abouts are you snmum?

snmum · 08/10/2004 12:04

I'm on the East kent coast

snmum · 08/10/2004 12:05

not really glamourous, is it?

DelGirl · 08/10/2004 12:06

No chance of me seeing it then. I'm on the dorset coast. Oooh, maybe you can take a pic and post it on here

snmum · 08/10/2004 12:09

Oh thats a good idea! i will try and do that later!

So not only do i keep walking past nosing in, but now i am going to start taking pics of it! they will think they have equired a stalker.

DelGirl · 08/10/2004 12:14

maybe it'll go up for sale when it's finished and you can go inside as well as a prospective buyer .

binker · 08/10/2004 12:35

maybe you're misunderstanding what I meant - I have no probs. with people speaking a foreign language in that country (ds goes to French classes and I always try to speak a bit of the language wherever I am, though not very well, but I try !) what I meant was that he does it SMUGLY (in my opinion) - I am not being a pleb and thinking that French folk should understand English... thank you.

Twinkie · 08/10/2004 12:39

I just think he has a smug want to slap him peanut head Binker I don't think he means to behave like that IYKWIM!!

binker · 08/10/2004 18:05

yep,Twinkie, that's it !

Hairyfairy · 12/10/2004 20:54

I always get confused with Kevin McCloud and Monty Don. Can't separate the two unless I see them together. Suppose they're both a bit SMUG though.

Auntiemabel · 13/10/2004 14:58

I think he is a smug git and he is really irritating. He does have some infomation to pass on and that is sometimes interesting . I'm with Binker........defo a peanut head.

krocket · 13/10/2004 15:00

ahh, I think he's excellent, not smug at all, just think he loves architecture and everything that goes with it. I do think he's been asked to ham it up a bit more this series with the kind of "is it all going to go wrong" doomongering

Frenchgirl · 13/10/2004 15:02

I love old Kevin McCloud, quite sexy and great programmes.

and he can speak languages!
not at all peanut headed

aloha · 13/10/2004 15:46

I liked the one in the woods best too. Amazing how beautiful the house was and how charming and humble the man was who built it. Completely unmaterialistic.

aloha · 13/10/2004 15:46

And Kevin's doom-laden commentary - 'they say it will be ready by Christmas, but frankly, I can't see this project ever working..' - always makes us laugh.

bundle · 13/10/2004 15:48

that's it though, it's a creaky old script...nothing wrong with kev per se

xoz · 13/10/2004 16:09

Dh & I love this show - we dream of building our own place when we go back home to Australia, but have NO idea what it would be! lol
I have to say I don't find Kev appealling at all and the whole doom & gloom thing annoys me. dh reckons he must have the best job going though. all he does is travel around, look at other peoples houses and say "it won't be done on time/ within budget" - how hard could that be!!!
My favorite would have to be the wooden house in the forest, also liked the one in Edinburgh, and this series I like the one on the hilltop in Spain (I think) where they painted the wall blue much to the locals annoyance. That made me laugh!

aloha · 13/10/2004 16:11

Twinkie, we have his Cambridge Blue on our bedroom walls, and very nice it is too!

binker · 13/10/2004 18:27

yes, the house in the forest was lovely,as was the man who built it - and the big house in France the other week was fantastic - the people were great...

aloha · 13/10/2004 18:43

They worked so HARD! I'd have given up and sat in amid the ruins drinking wine... and they didn't row, which I found amazing.

JoolsToo · 13/10/2004 18:45

loved the France one - didn't like the Irish church - too gloomy!

krocket · 13/10/2004 19:28

I know, how the hell did they not just end up scrapping. I was sitting there smugly thinking "oh ha ha this is just a receipe for disaster, it'll all go wrong" Proved my miserable ass wrong!

krocket · 20/10/2004 21:20

house in the alps

why why why is that not me?

binker · 21/10/2004 09:45

didn't take to the people though... liked poor M.Bastard the carpenter !
