As there are only going to be four episodes of Last tango in Halifax I'm looking for other series to watch. In the past I've enjoyed Cold Feet, The Detectorists, Broadchurch, Wallander. I'm not into soaps. I've got access to Now Tv (which is Sky pay as you go) and Amazon Prime plus terrestrial tv. Any suggestions?

TIA

There was a comedy/drama called Starlings on a few years ago which we quite enjoyed - Brendan Coyle and Lesley Sharpe.

2000 Acres of Sky, although it doesn’t seem to be repeated.

Defenestratethecat · 26/02/2020 11:41

We also really rated Foyle’s War in ‘detective’ genre.

Ijustneed · 26/02/2020 11:50

Ah yes, 2000 acres of Sky was good.

I don't really watch detective programmes, but there was something about Broadchurch (I love Olivia Coleman and David Tennant) and Wallander (again loved Kenneth Brannagh in the role and the setting).

Any other suggestions?

I like comedy too, but not centred around young people getting drunk Blush and not silly, over the top.

The Split, Dr Foster, Inside No.9, Psychoville, Marcella - some I've enjoyed 😁

Ijustneed · 26/02/2020 16:31

Yes, I love Inside No 9. I'll check out the others Smile

Happy Valley
Years and Years
Unforgotten

For comedy try grace & frankie. It actually might be Frankie and Grace.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 26/02/2020 19:44

If you liked Years and Years as suggested by @PuppyMonkey go to All4 and watch Queer as Folk and Cucumber by the same writer. Both brilliant.

Ijustneed · 26/02/2020 20:58

I haven't seen Years and Years, but I'll check it out and the others too, thanks.

I think Bad Move and Boomers are very similar in writing style and that cosy feeling. Enjoy x

Ijustneed · 27/02/2020 12:00

Any idea where Boomers is available?

Cuckoo with Greg Davies.

Ijustneed · 27/02/2020 16:16

Thanks, I watched Cuckoo (although didn't like it as much after the first series), also Man Down.

First series was definitely the best - before "cuckoo" went off to Brooklyn Nine Nine.

Green Wing is very funny.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 27/02/2020 17:06

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and also Good Girls on Amazon Prime.
Seconding Grace and Frankie.

All of them have silliness but all of them follow family stories and have some good humour about them too.

SilentBob · 27/02/2020 17:16

Shakespeare and Hathaway bbc iplayer. So bad it's good

Pebble21uk · 27/02/2020 18:16

I'm so glad to see some people remember '2000 Acres of Sky'... I was SO gutted when they axed it! I have the DVDs... loved that show so much.

RapidRainbow · 27/02/2020 22:30

You can buy the Boomers Boxset on YouTube or Google Play. Unfortunately not currently on BBC iPlayer.
