The last year I've really got into BBC Radio 6. I've been gobsmacked as I've discovered there is so much new brilliant music around. None of it was really here tonight tho ( Lizzo and Dave being notable exceptions)

Thoughts from tonight- love jack Whitehall, Courtney love looked off her face, never heard of Dave but what a powerful performance, stormzys body is fire and Lizzo is beyond annoying!

Lewis Capaldi surprised me with how strong his accent is live compared to on the radio.

Have to say i'd like to see more Daves and fewer people who were in a boyband/ related to someone famous. Nothing against Mabel or LC or Harry Styles but my generation of brits were more self made.

Agreed. She always sounds like a teenager responding to her mum opening her curtains, pulling back the covers and shouting "You'll be late for school!" Most of the time, she doesn't even seem to try to sing, just murmurs. It's good that she doesn't subscribe to the pressure that so many young female artistes do to perform wearing your bra and pants and not much more, but she always just looks so drugged up to me. I'm not saying that to be unkind at all - it really does concern me how she looks much of the time in her videos.

Well she says she's very anti-drugs @webuiltthisbuffetonsausagerolls but i know what you mean. Although sometimes people with very pale blue eyes can just look that way. There were literally three notes at the end of that song where she actually sang properly and -surprise surprise - she sounded amazing. I don't know what she gets out of being so passive and using so little of her voice most of the time. She's like a horse that's never allowed to go above a trot, or a bird in a cage. I do like the way she dresses though - for herself, not for the male gaze. Much like Adele in that respect at least.

True, but I don't think it's anything to do with her eyes, though. She seems to have almost a mind-control or trauma victim 'style' in her videos. Whether it's real or just a persona, I find it very concerning - especially considering how young she is.

I quite liked Billie Eilish as she's a nice change from having my eardrums assaulted by Adele and co "belting it out".

Dave did absolutely nothing for me, nor Stormzy - just don't get rap or grime or whatever they produce.

For me Rod Stewart was by far the best act and I don't even particularly like him.

Mabel was ok but, to me, she sounded slightly out of tune. Lizzo was ok but not great. I can't stand Celeste's voice at all.

Stormzy can sing but I don't like his music, same with Dave. That new Bond song is dire.

I have heard that Lewis Capaldi song a lot and always thought yeah it's ok but then when I heard it being song on The Masked Singer I suddenly thought was a great song it is. She sang it so well. Lewis just kind of mumbles it and he hasn't got a great voice either has he

I agree Lewis Capaldi's voice is not great - he is overrated IMHO.
