Back on BBC iPlayer on Monday at 7.00pm.

Bittersweet as it will be the final series, and will also incorporate a tribute to Slugs / Michael Sleggs.

This series is just getting better and better.

It seems to have a different feel to it, a lot more emotional than past series. I love that Kerry has finally realised Martin is an awful Dad and wants him out, I’ve been willing for her to suss him out for so long now.

The Vicar has been much more prominent, maybe something will happen with Jacob that will push him over the edge maybe? Or who was the woman he kept mentioning in his scenes with Len?

Highlights from the last episode include

-Kurtan describing a natter compared to a conversation and Kerry’s face listening to it go from subject to subject
-Kurtan saying than you can’t do a bank transfer on a Tuesday
-Kerry’s Bodger and Badger analogy
-Len’s shave!!
-Kerry finally realising how bad Martin is and him leaving the house. The bond between her and Sue too was great to see.

Internet history big jugs!

Both K and K have had episodes where they briefly hold down a job, and they suddenly have a sense of pride and purpose, which is immediately crushed when they screw up. There's a brief moment of them having a different kind of life... and then it's gone. I find that very affecting and believable.

Rosalo · 04/03/2020 15:51

Bodger won't want to get involved.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 04/03/2020 16:29

They're completely co-dependent as well, aren't they? Kerry loved working at the tip and she was well within her rights never to speak to Kurtan again after what he did, but without him she hasn't really got anyone. Same with Kurtan and the hoovers being stored at the bowls club. Kurtan is occasionally shown as having other friends but Kerry only has Kurtan and the vicar, occasionally her mum. She's scared of Mandy.

I think we might see more of June and she may have a part in the vicar's downfall we're predicting. Is she the same person who was referred to as "the nosey old cockwomble" in the first series?

The80sweregreat · 04/03/2020 16:58

June was in the 'good deeds ' one. She was upset at Kurtan at the Cinema night at the village hall watching Grease. They don't get on and she is a bit of busy body!
It makes sense now about why he was so upset over her doing the open garden ( for 50p!)

The80sweregreat · 04/03/2020 17:03

In series one.
When Kurtan was going to move away to do an GNVQ in caring she really did sulk! He then decided not to go as the man on the booklet he was sent looked arrogant and they had swirly carpets on the floor in the photos.
He decided a ' gap year' ( from not doing much) was a better idea after all. The vicar helped him fill in all the forms as well! 😂
They seem to be a bit scared of moving on.

MortyFide · 04/03/2020 17:31

I think June told Kurtan he was "very rude" because at the meeting for the MLM scheme, he and Kerry were sitting behind her and Kurtan claimed that June kept guffing.

That's another of my favourite episodes, the MLM one when Kerry is flogging a load of old herbal shite.

"That tastes like ass."

TheTruthAboutLove · 04/03/2020 17:35

I wonder if Florence will make a comeback after the double dinners episode.

That was a brilliant episode.

The80sweregreat · 04/03/2020 18:06

The one selling the green drinks was very believable as a MLM agent.
' you would find the money Kerry .. ' !

MortyFide · 04/03/2020 18:11

Urgh that MLM consultant was just the pits. Hmm Poor old Kerry was perfect for being suckered in, got into debt and everything.

And Kurtan sold all of his Warhammer crap to help her pay it off, even though he didn't get much so she had to get another payday loan...

The80sweregreat · 04/03/2020 18:13

Kerry wearing a tie was funny trying to sell the drinks on! They get into some scrapes.

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/03/2020 18:49

Top funniest moment for me is kurtan emptying the wheelbarrow.

"Just one question kirsty, are you going to do it like that every time?"
"Er, no, i shouldn't think so"

I was crying laughing the first (second, third, forth and fifth) time i saw it.

Twerking9to5 · 04/03/2020 20:45

Just found this thread! Pleased I have fellow fans to “natter” with about This Country Grin

Twerking9to5 · 04/03/2020 20:47

I am loving this series, torn between gobbling up each episode immediately and wishing it would stretch out forever. DH doesn’t really get it, which totally confuses me as I can’t see how he doesn’t find it genius?! So I watch them alone and laugh so hard in an empty room Blush.

The bit with the lanterns at the end of ep 3 - “biggest killers of barn owls they are” 😂

CaptainMyCaptain · 04/03/2020 20:50

I was just saying more or less that before she said it.

MortyFide · 04/03/2020 21:17

Oh me too! I took a breath to say "those things kill a lot of owls" and she said it!

Twerking9to5 · 04/03/2020 21:48

I also loved (series 1?) when Kurtan is trying to get to town for a TK Maxx sale and the volunteer in the tourist centre (I think) can’t work out what the bus times are. K says “you can’t even have a go at her, cos she’s fucking it up for free”

The80sweregreat · 05/03/2020 09:18

When Kurtan gave Kayleigh a card asking to her to be his spouse when he didn't even know her! She is an odd one.

minou123 · 05/03/2020 18:05

You would make me the happiest mouse
If you said yes and become my spouse

I recognised Len as the policeman off Call the Midwife; I didn't realise he was their real uncle!

CodenameVillanelle · 06/03/2020 06:44

It's not the same guy I don't think! Len is played by Charlie and Daisy-May's uncle, I didn't think he was a professional actor before?

furrytoebean · 06/03/2020 07:01

I love this programme so much it has me crying with laughter.

I LOVE the vicar character he's just spot on. The way he's trying his very best but is just so human.
The scene in the car when he is talking about his dad humiliating him and that's when he realised he never wanted to make anyone feel like that. It was so funny, I had to pause it because I was laughing so hard but at the same time it was also so tender and sad. The way the characters care about each other really comes across, it's not nasty at all.

My other favourite scene is in the first series when kurtan was trying to get Kerry to remember that boy from school, it was just spot on.

Whenwillthewashingend · 06/03/2020 07:08

I love this programme so much. Nobody else I know watches it, so I love reading all the comments on here.
@icelolly99 I didn't realise Len was in Call the Midwife. He looks so different.

happilybemused · 06/03/2020 08:53

Len is their uncle and also a professional actor who has appeared in Call the Midwife. He describes himself as well known for playing bald fat blokes Grin
