Anyone watching this? I’ve watched the first two episodes, Alexa Chung & Tan France host a version of Great British Sewing Bee which is one notch harder - no patterns, no practicing at home, two designers working together over two days to create clothes on a theme. Alexa is a bit weak, her clothes are fab, Tan is much more used to presenting & carries it.

I’m loving it. I see it more akin to Project Runway and it’s highly binge worthy! Loving Tan and Alexa (although some of the stuff she wears I’m a bit Hmm at have to admit!)

I had a try after it got a good review in The Guardian www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2020/jan/29/next-in-fashion-review-alexa-chung-and-tan-frances-outrageously-ott-reality-tv
I'm totally not in to fashion and don't get it at all, but I've almost finished the series with the kids watching too and have enjoyed it. I'm amazed how they manage to put these things together in less than 2 days from just the rolls of material. Looking at Alexa Chung always makes me feel enormous in comparison!

I’ve watched the whole thing and enjoyed it, but for a show that wanted to let designers from all over have a shot they ended up with something heavily skewed to Europe/Western and Asia, ie places with many established designers anyway. So I think they missed the mark. In general worth all programmes like this is like a lot more talk about how they arrive at their ideas, talk about construction, and more reasoning and analysis from judges (explain what “too costumey” means for us that don’t work in the industry).

Watched ep 1 last night but missed last few mins as fell asleep. I love Tan he is fab.

finding it both educational and surprisingly cheery - maybe the UK rather than US style competitiveness. The Scot shot herself in the foot….

I finished this tonight,a really good series if you like project runway.
Most of the designers are extremely established.

I signed up for Netflix purely for this show and I bloody love it! Tan is really good. Quite like Alexa too - more than I thought I would. The designers are so bloody talented

I started watching but didn't really like it, it's a rubbish rip-off of Project Runway. In PR Tim Gunn goes around critiquing the outfits and they talk about their inspiration and do all the sewing themselves. In this one, they are all professional already, the clothes are bizarre/ugly and I'm pretty sure they have production assistants for sewing.

The judging is also terrible and makes no sense. In PR, they had clear rationale for picking the best/worst outfits and would critique them in detail. Michael Kors' and Nina Garcia's comments were also hilarious.

banivani · 21/02/2020 07:40

I love Tim Gunn in PR, but I never liked the judging and never found them to be instructional. That said, I stopped watching it pdq because of this and the general dwamah format so I might well be wrong haha.

I’m not into fashion but I adored this and massively binged on it! I love queer eye and Tan is brilliant on this. I loved how supportive the contestants were of each other especially as the series went on...

desperatehousewife21 · 28/02/2020 16:40

Absolutely LOVED this! Finished it a few weeks ago now and can’t actually remember names but the two guys (dressed in black/ the one who cut his face during the filming) were my favs gutted one of them didn’t win.

Really hope they do another series!

Arthritica · 01/03/2020 21:01

I love it! Tan's wonderful as always and I love watching the designers work together and help each other.
