BBC 2 documentary about the child abuse cover up in the Church of England .

Can't find any other posts about this but having watched it I'm shocked it isn't bigger news considering the involvement of a sitting member of the House of Lords ( former Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey ) and Prince Charles.

Has anyone else watched it? I was horrified by it.

It was big news at the time. It was widely reported in the Church Times. I couldn't believe how appallingly the Church of England behaved. No care for his victims at all.

I'm just shocked that it seems such a massive thing for Prince Charles to have been linked to and yet there hasn't been the same reaction as there has been to the Prince Andrew scandal.

I know there is no suggestion that Prince Charles was actively involved in child abuse but he certainly helped in the cover up and even paid for a house and gave financial support to a known abuser who had already been cautioned by the police and who Lambeth Palace knew had many more victims.

I was incredibly shocked too. I thought the documentaries were excellent and the evidence of cover ups astounding. I couldn't understand how anyone could stand by this man. How they belittled the victims and hounded them out of the church was so upsetting. Genuinely disturbing. I have no respect for Prince Charles and think those letters showed what he really thought of his subjects. Let alone writing to people showing support for the abuser so he would be allowed to preach to children again. Disgraceful.

I think all of his supporters were manipulated by him into believing his innocence.

What a fantastic documentary this was,I was completely stunned by the whole thing. Absolutely shocking cover up.

Exactly this.

The arrogance is breathtaking.

I want to know how much his twin brother knew. Was he also part of the cover up? He was barely mentioned.
