My mum is paying for me to have Sky Plus for my birthday (thanks Mum!) - we already have Sky.

What do you think of it?

love it, when im watching my favourite programmes in the evening, and one of the dc wake up screaming i can pause it for however long and tend to them!

i got my one free after calling sky up and saying i wanted to cancel as i never had time to watch my favourite programmes and they offered me a free one! sold my old sky box on ebay!

ruddynorah · 29/08/2007 17:55

we love ours. i can record stuff while dh watches the sports channels. and we have loads of our fave films stored to watch whenever we like.

softballwidow · 29/08/2007 18:24

we have tivo too, though the boxes are not available to buy over here anymore. Dh will be gutted if it ever breaks down... it certainly changed my viewing habits! ANd it records hings randomly because it 'remembers' we liked them! (this can some times be abit annoying when it switches channels in the middle of watching something).

LazyLinePainterJane · 29/08/2007 19:51

I like the series link.

Toothyboy · 29/08/2007 21:44

Sky+ is now free (providing you already have a Sky+ box) - so if you took a more expensive package than you really wanted in order to get Sky+, you can now downgrade to the packeage you do want, and keep the Sky+.

Apparently, Sky sent letters out to all their Sky+ customers informing them of this. Strangely we never received such a letter and only found out when dp called to downgrade our package.

But to the OP - yes, get Sky+ - you will not regret it!

fortunecookie · 29/08/2007 21:46

Love Sky+. I consider it one of our best buys.

handlemecarefully · 29/08/2007 21:48

Fanfeckingtastic - I love the aforementioned 'series link' function, the piss easy recording of programmes and the 'live pause' function (where you just put a live programme that you are currently watching onto pause whilst you go and visit the loo, and click it back on when you return)

binkleandflip · 29/08/2007 21:49

you will wonder how you existed without it

handlemecarefully · 29/08/2007 22:02

Hark at us - don't we sound evangelical!

peanutbear · 29/08/2007 22:02

we have V+ and I love it

binkleandflip · 29/08/2007 22:04

you can also instantly rewind any good bits you want to re-watch (I, for example, watched dexter last night and had a right good look at Michael C. Halls bare bottom a good few times )

BandofMothers · 29/08/2007 22:06

DH ordered it today. It is arriving on Monday so I can't go to the first playgroup of term, it better be worth it

Sidge · 29/08/2007 23:14

Sounds like it will be the best thing since sliced bread then!!

Can't wait till Friday now, will have to find a load of stuff to record or watch...

You lot sound like we need to start a Sky Plus Appreciation Society

utterly fabbola

smurfgirl · 02/09/2007 14:28

I want to marry my sky + we actually don't pay extra for it beause we have the film packages which we have anyway which is fab.

I was at y parents recently and it was so annoying not being able to pause or rewind the tv!

TwoIfBySea · 02/09/2007 23:10

I do that when I am at my parents house also, reach for the remote to pause or rewind something, very frustrating!

I really don't know what I did before it, oh, thats right, I just missed a lot of good programmes!

For lazy factor the series link is excellent, otherwise I would forget next episodes. Plus if there is nothing on I watch whatever is on the planner.
