Anybody watch Susan Hill's The Ghost Story on C5? I was seriously creeped out watching that & I was watching it alone with the cat for company. 😬
Dh was supposed to watch it with me but fell asleep reading a bedtime story to dc! 🙄If you found the woman in black scary then this is by the same writer & a bit more disturbing.

Anything involving the ghosts of children and old houses are deeply disturbing. Any one else creeped out by it? I'm off to bed with the lights on!

So he killed /drowned the boy when was at the house as a child

The brother covered it up giving him mental issues

He forgot about it then found the house years later

But yes would you if the brother really buy a house where as a child’s child was killed by your brother

Let alone have kids there

We felt the actors must have felt pretty embarrassed being in it the ghost was the Scottish nurse from Bodies was laughably bad we all went to bed half way through.

I couldn’t stand the mumbling

We watched it with the subtitles on. I quite liked it, but it was very slow. The whole thing could have been shown in an hour. DD fell asleep, and DH got up to do something else.

Stuck with it to the second advert break, went off to put the kettle on, came back and decided I really didn't care who the ghost was, what it was about or anything else about the programme, and switched over.

BlushSmile must be me with bad taste in TV programmes! I do like a good ghost story so what do you recommend that I watch? Bearing in mind that I have a delicate constitution & will have to sleep with my cat & lights on for a month afterwards!

But did you understand it @PrettyPurpleFeather

And crickly hall was scary

thenightsky · 29/12/2019 16:12

I'm half way through it and DH has just buggered off with the words 'God, another hour of this mumbling drivel'. I think I may have fallen asleep twice too.

CarpeVitam · 29/12/2019 16:44

I turned it off, I thought it was rubbish! 😕

ClaraSais · 30/12/2019 20:33

Sorry not for me. Very cliche story.

littlecabbage · 30/12/2019 21:25

Absolutely dreadful! Saw it through to the end, but story was rubbish (was it the same as in the book), acting terrible, and crap ending.

love Dougie.cant wait for shetland to come back. i laso love her books so i wouldnt want it to ruin them for me.i have such vivid ideas of how her storys look in my head from her writing.

CoolCarrie · 31/12/2019 14:22

Her ghost themed books are very scary and this was a disappointment, read the book instead, it’s excellent.

PrettyPurpleFeather · 02/01/2020 03:30

Lots of differing opinions on this then. I will order the book and see how different it is to the story.
