Anyone watching?

I love stuff like this.

Lord being a parent must be so hard if cabin crew- as gay parents does one of them get a years mat leave?

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 21:34

Aww poor hermisha.

WaterSheep · 18/12/2019 21:36

I love the dad's argument about cakes and biscuits.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 21:37

#biscuitgate Grin

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/12/2019 22:08

Poor Nigel. He is going to have a 6th baby.

I wondered about the twin Dads, do they get any leave?

SimonJT · 18/12/2019 22:09

I liked biscuit gate 😂

They are only entitled to two weeks paternity unless their employer offers additional leave. Mel will be able to take usual maternity leave if she wishes.

Poor Peter, it must have been so confusing for his big sister and then when Mum and Dad come home properly she has to share them with Peter.

A sixth baby? What Mum said about having a community in your siblings made my ears prick up, I had thought she was trying to fill a gap but that confirmed it really.

Poor Hermisha, I’m pleased she seemed happier and more content by the end of the episode.

I felt really awful for Mo when his mother in law when speaking to him about the interview, it was cruel.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/12/2019 22:11

Yes, they aren’t going to let Mo get a good job.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 22:15

Poor Mo. Two weeks away- two weeks home would be fine for his bond with Ace (who is gorgeous! Beautiful eyes!) and Syler would be at home with all her family there for support. I had to laugh at MIL telling him how it would be and then saying “of course it’s not my business” Grin and then following it up with why it was her business actually.

And the way syler barks his name like that really sets my teeth on edge. He’s very easy going! Grin

Sunshinegirl82 · 18/12/2019 22:17

They may be entitled to adoption leave depending on the circumstances.

Poor Nigel, he really does need to put his foot down though if he doesn't want anymore.

DappledThings · 18/12/2019 22:17

I don't get those feeding aprons anywhere but in her own home was completely ridiculous. And Nigel is totally spineless. He is totally clear he doesn't want a 6th and yet refuses to put his foot down and go and get the snip.

I cried when Peter's mum did. The nurse was so lovely to her. Something about medical professionals being human and caring to make a connection beyond their remit always gets me. Reminds me of the nurse in A&E when I was in agony with a prolonged miscarriage and she told she'd been there and knew how I felt. Any kindness from nurses like that and the one with Peter just make me sob now.

SimonJT · 18/12/2019 22:25

@Sunshinegirl82 They won’t be entitled to adoption leave as they are not adoptive parents.

One thing I did wonder, Mo is Egyptian, so I wonder if a lot of their money is being put aside to ensure he can remain in the UK. As someone who has been through the process it’s quite costly and you have to prove you have the finances to support yourself. I don’t know if it would be different in their situation as he is married to a UK citizen.

Lepetitpiggy · 18/12/2019 22:29

Poor Mo. Mother in law needs to butt out

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 18/12/2019 22:29

I think 2 weeks away from your newborn would be tough- I understand the decision. I do think rather than just shutting down his ideas though, Syler and her mum could try and big MO up a bit more- least he’s aiming. Btw that baby is stunning- those eyes are amazing!

As for Nigel- man up and get the snip!

As for little Peter- I shed a tear. Lovely family!

Deepblueriver · 18/12/2019 22:33

My heart went out to Peter’s mum in this episode. She really had a hard time. Maybe the reason they weren’t in it so much was because they had 2 weeks in NICU and it would have been intrusive to film in there.

I’m pleased we got to see Mel again and that she is going to be part of the girls lives.

I am not surprised that Helen is going to have another baby. But it is sad that she looks at her tiny newborn and thinks I want a baby. You have got one! That need will never be filled.

On a side note. How does she manage to have that many babies in such a short time if she breastfeeds? Does she wean early to TTC? I thought it was sad that Rebecca was just put to bed and left in the cot. She is still only a baby herself and doesn’t seem to get much attention. I know it is edited so maybe she gets more than is shown.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 22:34

It would be tough initially but they would all get used to it and I dont think it would affect his bond with ace like MIL was saying. A good dad would make use of the two weeks at home (and stay out of the pub Mo! Grin

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 22:35

Maybe the reason they weren’t in it so much was because they had 2 weeks in NICU and it would have been intrusive to film in there.

Oh yes that’ll be it!

Sunshinegirl82 · 18/12/2019 22:35

@SimonJT adoption pay is payable to those who have a baby via surrogacy as well as adoptive parents provided certain criteria are met.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 22:36

But it is sad that she looks at her tiny newborn and thinks I want a baby. You have got one!

Agree! Savour then while they’re so small. Enjoy the ones you have instead of looking to the next one.

lazymum99 · 18/12/2019 22:42

I think when Mo went to the interview they mentioned it could be 3 months away. That is a lot. 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off sounds like the making of an ideal marriage!
But I wish the whole family would stop interfering.
If a UK citizen wants to bring a spouse or fiancé into the UK I thought they had to prove they had an income of over £18,000. I don’t understand in what grounds Mo came here. he would not have access to benefits for 5 years I think.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 22:44

I thought the 3 months was they would take him for a 3 months contract initially.

lazymum99 · 18/12/2019 22:48

If it’s a 3 month contract then he’s mad not to take it. Really good money. 2 weeks away not too bad.

Dramaofallama · 18/12/2019 22:52

I really enjoyed this series. It was nice to see how others are coping with newborns (my DS is now 3 weeks old). I especially understood how that one dad felt when his husband went back to work, how exhausted he was and not having enough hours in the day. I'm a lone parent and sometimes it feels like my days are just feeding, changing, washing, sterilising and repeat.
I also felt for Peters mum, it was lovely to have a doctor who comforted her.

LizS16 · 18/12/2019 22:55

Don't you get dizzy up on those high high horses?! So much nitpicking over small things, so much judgement, so many assumptions about people you don't know!!!! I thought Mumsnet was a place for support - clearly I'm an idiot. It's like we all forget how excruciatingly hard the first few weeks are.

That being said - all of the families that had more than 1 kid..... hats off to you, I can barely cope with one!

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 18/12/2019 23:02

I thought Mumsnet was a place for support

This is the telly addicts board-we come here to talk about Tv programmes. None of the participants came here for support. Syler did come but only because someone in her RL told her she was being discussed. That shouldn’t have been a surprise really as she’d been on TV. All the participants will have been discussed on forums across the Internet, FB, Twitter and mum and baby groups etc.
