Anyone else watching? I gave it a try months ago and couldn't get into it. I gave it another try this weekend and have watched up to the end of season 2.

It is very strange, but interesting.

I am just about to watch series 4, which apparently is the last. I love it.

I found the first 1-3 episodes hard going (mainly because I didn't like Julianne and Joe Blake) but I stuck it because I love Rufus Sewell. I was absolutely hooked by the time the first series ended.

It's over a year since I saw series 3 so it's all a bit hazy, I think I might need a refresher before I start 4.

Andylion · 28/11/2019 22:57

I admit Sewell is the draw for me, too.

I watched season 1 about 4 episode, but it didn't grab me - and I really wanted it too.

Rufus Sewell is great in everything he does! He got me at Middlemarch.

Should I persevere?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 29/11/2019 00:56

Yes, persevere. If I hadn't been binge watching I might not have got past episode 3 or 4 because I wouldn't have been interested enough to remember it was on.

The finale to series 1 had me desperate to watch the next one Fortunately I was able to do so straight away.

elQuintoConyo · 29/11/2019 08:11

Ooooh! That's my weekend gone Grin

diddl · 29/11/2019 17:17

I started to watch but gave up as couldn't understand it at all.

But Rufus Sewell in a uniform, boots & a long leather coat!Blush

elQuintoConyo · 29/11/2019 22:19

I know diddl even DH's pants flew off GrinGrin

WhenYouCantRunYouCrawl · 29/11/2019 22:22

I've watched it all the way through to the end. I understood everything up until the last 5 minutes and then I had a total WTF moment.

Won't say anymore because of spoilers, but overall I think it's worth sticking with. The last series has definitely been much better.

diddl · 10/12/2019 21:01

Well I'm trying again, on Ep 5 of the 1st series, but I'm finding it boring.

Not enough John Smith & Juliana & Joe are tedious!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 14/12/2019 20:20

They bored me too, but stick with it, you'll be amazed.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 19/12/2019 20:15

Slight spoilers.

Just finished. Yes the last 5 minutes was odd but overall I loved this programme I think my biggest disappointment was the first episode of series 4, finding out one of my favourite characters was just gone Also the lovely David Harewood being criminally underused.

Fairylea · 19/12/2019 20:17

Rufus is the bomb Grin he’s the best thing in the series. And his on screen wife, Helen, is amazing too.

I loved the whole thing.

Twisique · 21/12/2019 20:52

I loved it all but I need someone to explain the last bit to me!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/12/2019 22:30

Me too!

MrsSlocombesPussy · 22/12/2019 17:06

I've just finished watching the last season. I watched the whole lot over the last 2 weeks. I thought Rufus Sewell was brilliant. Is it ok to discuss the season ending now, do you think?

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 22/12/2019 21:59

Its been out for a while now so I would think its ok, personally, @MrsSlocombesPussy and I am dying to know other people's thoughts on the ending .

I persevered and grew to love it but like a PP the Julianna and Joe got tiresome.
Rufus Sewell ., what can I say ? Absolutely handsome man with gorgeous eyes.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/12/2019 00:03

I thought Rufus and Chelah Hirsdal were both especially good in this last series.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 23/12/2019 13:53

I agree with you Starbucks

I loved Season 4 as we got to see who they HAD been and why they became what they became . Desperately sad, in my opinion, when JS found his "son" and aimed to take Helen, to show her for herself, when the train incident occurred . If Only ay ? I think he was, as his pre end of war American self, a decent man, as was the parallel world JS.
I am just confused as to the ending and who they all were . At first I thought, weirdly, the deceased throughout the series would be returning but seems it wasn't that.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 23/12/2019 13:55

I think Seasons 3 and 4 were my favourites .

I well remember the cliffhanger from Season 1 where the Japanese Trade Minister (forgot his name) caught a long glimpse of the parallel (our world) USA at that time in the 60s.

sue51 · 23/12/2019 13:59

I loved it all apart from the last few minutes which left me confused and frustrated.

borntobequiet · 23/12/2019 14:01

I only know the book. It’s not very long. They got four seasons out of it? Blimey.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/12/2019 14:39

Rabbits

Tagomi. I don't know why they got rid of him at the beginning of season 4.

ElluesPichulobu · 30/12/2019 06:08

I have just finished it too.

I agree the ending is confusing but you have to remember that this was all based on a Philip K Dick story (like Bladerunner, Total Recall and Minority Report) and confusing and ambiguous endings are pretty much what to expect.

::::: SPOILER ALERT :::::

I was satisfied with John & Helen Smith's story arc - I think that was done very well and they both behaved in-character under the circumstances.

I didn't think having hosts of random people coming through the tunnel made much sense. why would they want to come? I would have preferred to have it end with a battalion of Canadian Mounties come to liberate the oppressed, or a legion of Roman soldiers with SPQR banners and machine guns from a world where the Roman empire never fell to arrive in conquest. but that wouldn't have been in keeping with PKD weirdness.

Seahorseshoe · 30/12/2019 06:20

DH and I have been wading through this for the 3 weeks. Maybe it's because we've been watching it intensely, but it just seems like the same story going round and round. I'm not impressed, DH loves it though.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 30/12/2019 10:10

Thank You @StarbucksSmarterSister . I don't know why either , unless It was to guide Julianna in that dreamscape kind of world .
