Doesn't time fly, when they really shorten the format?
Grin

I think the audition stuf was just a bit pointless, and now that Jenny has been re-instated, and Vinnie Jones is in, without even having to sing, it makes it seem like they all got a nice jolly abroad. The Only one who took is seriously was Jezza Edwards, who was deluded into thinking he could actually sing Grin.

Re-cap of who is who (can't find a proper list of who is singing what other than Megan is singing an original again)

Simon and the Groups

The Islanders- Love Island alumni
V5- female group of Social media influencers
Try Star- Rugby players .
Max and Harvey- twins with a CBBC show

Louis and the Unders
Olivia Olson- best known for Love Actually- aged about 12
Megan McKenna- Someone from Towie. Who has already released things.
Kevin McHale- a singer from Glee
Jonny Labey- actor and perdormer. Probably better at dancing.

Nicole and the Overs
Ricki Lake- Presenter and actress.
Victoria Ekanoye- Corrie Actress
Martin Bashir- Journalist. Not known for singing.
Vinnie Jones- Footballer and actor
Jenny Ryan- The Vixen , from The Chase. Was dumped. Is back.

So there you are.

I have vodka. No Stoptover for me. No sirree.

Grin.

Oh, and we will find out who leaves tonight, no Sinday show anymore! Shock

80s I think people stopped caring a long time ago Grin.

I feel I watch out of obligationGrin.

JaneJeffer · 03/11/2019 16:00

Louis said he loved that they were sad about England losing the rugby Grin this programme is hilarious.

The80sweregreat · 03/11/2019 16:06

I watch as it is entertaining and I like music ( even if most contestants murder the songs) plus this thread which is really funny and makes me laugh out loud. Your all so witty.
We don't go out much so it's nice to relax in front of the tv on a Saturday night and have a laugh. Normal X factor was better ' back in the day' though. Now I do sound old! !

Raahh · 03/11/2019 16:17

I've always liked the threads tooGrin

Something is lacking in this version, I can't put my finger on it,really.

It just doesn't seem as much fun to watch.

I rarely go out either - my sister's Hallowe'en party, and maybe my birthday.

I'm never home later than 10.30 (and usually on my birthday, we are lucky if I last til 9!) Grin

JaneJeffer · 03/11/2019 16:18

You know what's missing, there's no nan!

The80sweregreat · 03/11/2019 16:20

I thought that too about Mariah Carey doing walkers ads! ( has Gary given up on them now?) I bet she got more money than him too.
I do love that song though. It screams Christmas is coming! ( I don't like Christmas but there you go, the songs are good!)
It is a classic number.

The80sweregreat · 03/11/2019 16:22

I miss when strictly and the X factor finish . It's all Christmas tv then ( same as last years Christmas tv ) then nothing much in the new year!

The80sweregreat · 03/11/2019 16:30

Vinnie has such hard scary eyes!
Fair play that he hasn't done a sad song and stuck to what he likes , but it is a bit samey.
Bad manners were an odd 80s group! If he does the specials next sat I might forgive him a bit though. I used to have a crush on Terry Hall ( lead singer)

Raahh · 03/11/2019 16:34

Jane We need more nans- although I do think Megan mentioned her Nan crying at song last week.

This fuels my suspicions about the Megan Factor- she has been primed to know that back stories and crying nans- surefire vote winners. Grin

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 03/11/2019 16:35

No Nans! So true.
Maybe Megan will roll one out next week!

JaneJeffer · 03/11/2019 16:36

Ah James Arthur. Best ever X Factor contestant.

Raahh · 03/11/2019 16:36

I'm looking forward to the Aldi Christmas ads- Kevin the Carrot is back, with Russell Sprout and the Leafy Blinders.Grin

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 03/11/2019 16:43

Some Xmas ads are early this year !
Will John Lewis go to town or be boring?
I liked the boots one last year.

Raahh · 03/11/2019 16:48

I like James too. Jane, at least his voice is a bit different.

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 03/11/2019 16:53

James A fan here too!

deste · 03/11/2019 21:03

I’m afraid I turned it over when Simon told one of the contestants he didn’t know if he should keep him because he was a really nice guy or because he really liked him. Here was me thinking it was talent they were looking for.

Raahh · 09/11/2019 12:44

So, the live shows plod on.

And Simon announced this week plans for an X Factor :Band edition, in December. Short notice Grin. This is instead of the All stars one, I think . Hardly surprising. So many of the past acts have alreadty said they won;t return- why risk it? The only ones who would are those whose career didn't quite pan out- so it would probably reek even even more of desperation than before.

I mean, we would end up with All Stars- starring Sam Bailey and that one that looked like Louis Tomlinson, and had a Spanish nan.

Oh, and probably Ben WhoNow?

Anyway- I think this is who we are left with

Megan McKenna- now the favourite to win, apparently.
V5- still no clue who they are. I'm sure they are lovely.
Max and Harvey- more songs about brothers ? Grin-
Vinnie Jones- possibly another shouty, but 'entertaining' number

Jenny Ryan- dressing her to match Nicole is distracting.
Try Star- At least they all look good.
Kevin McHale- can't warm to him at all.
No Love Lost- I'm not keen, and they had far too much backing, so hard to tell who can sing.
Martin Bashir- why? Martin. Why? You are a lovely man. But...why? Grin

So what rules will just casually get thrown out of the window this week? Grin

See y'all later

Double elimination tonight, I heard on the TV today!

Simon is up against Little Mix's band search on the BBC so has brought his forward to compete against theirs.

dillite · 09/11/2019 16:12

I'm surprised that Little Mix are allowed to have their band search on the BBC. I thought that Syco will own them for life.

ChicCroissant · 09/11/2019 16:19

Simon refused to work with their management company, so he's only got himself to blame there Grin Allegedly, they asked him to produce their band search and he declined but now seems to have one of his own

Raahh · 09/11/2019 17:04

Yes, that's what I read.

No love lost between a lot of SyCo's former 'big stars' and the man himself, though is there- they are are very quick to get rid when things don't go as well as expected.

I did see a picture of Little Mix with Tulisa- doing the 'Female boss' arm thing. Reminded me how irritating I used to find it Grin.

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/11/2019 17:14

I know on the radio the other day, they were trying to get people to spam Simon with renditions of Christmas carols and things- to 'audition'.

If they could find the new Slade, I'd be up for it. GrinIt's about time we re-gained cheesy Christmas. No more boring covers of ballads - I want a Christmas song that will be remembered for years.

They got Sheeran onboard (and failed) with the Matt Terry single- which was a Christmas song- but it wasn't a fun Christmas song. It was more Coldplay than Wizzard.

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/11/2019 17:16

Anyway, I can't sing, or dance, I look atrocious in wrap dresses as I am the height of an Elf. I don't think I have ever knowingly worn pleather. Hmm.

I think we should get an MN group together and audition . We've threatened it for years- this could be our chance Grin.

OP posts:
ChicCroissant · 09/11/2019 17:33

I'm not a big Cowell fan of his programmes, we have watched a couple of series now due to having a Mixer in the house (so I know alllll the details now..)

I'd forgotten about the fact that he was desperate for bands to step forward because he'd brought it forward so he's obviously hoping to swipe any good bands before they put themselves up for the LM version. But going by the celebrity version on at the moment, I don't think LM have much to worry about as the choices there seem to be way off the mark so far Hmm

The80sweregreat · 09/11/2019 17:45

I can't sing , but I'll come along in a mumsnet scarf and cheer you all on.
I wonder which song Martin will forget the words to tonight?
I really want Vinnie to do the specials! I bet he doesn't.
