Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over

Is anyone watching this?

On the W Channel.

Stacey spends three nights sleeping over in a unconventional family home.

This week is a open relationship couple with a child currently living with a girlfriend.

Really interesting. I couldn’t do it. Stacey says exactly what I’m thinking.

Interested what others think.

I'm currently watching that episode and want to scream at the monitor. It's dreadful.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7478085/Off-grid-benefits-family-blast-Stacey-Dooley-laziness-lived-new-show.html interesting read apparently the dad Matt has severe arthritis Hmm

BigSandyBalls2015 · 21/09/2019 08:28

He hid that well! And they don’t home school at all, if they did their 8 year old would be able to read and write.

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 21/09/2019 08:28

He might well have severe arthritis.

toooldforthisshirt37 · 21/09/2019 10:01

Sorry. I don't buy the severe arthritis as a get out. Plenty of people who are disabled can earn a living. I do and I also have severe arthritis among other disabilities. Their life style is a choice that they have made, they made that abundantly clear.

In that article they pillory Stacey for not recognising oregano, not a massive issue really, perhaps she isn't a foodie? And as for not going in the sea, it looked positively dangerous apart from being freezing!!! They also say in the article that their kids can't go to main stream school as they haven't been vaccinated....what are the plans for their adulthood I wonder?

beatriceprior · 21/09/2019 10:35

I think they are really disadvantaging their children.

It's really sad. I do think it's lazy parenting too.

No reason why the can't structure more
Basic education.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 21/09/2019 11:26

Can you imagine that poor lad in a few years, mid teens.

firstimemamma · 21/09/2019 15:29

I read the daily mail article and it just highlights their stupidity even further. Stacey wasn't meant to be living as they live, just observing and questioning/ discussing. The fact they've been disliked that she didn't join with with their way of life shows they've completely misunderstood the programme.

It's sad that the boy is having to teach himself to read on the iPad. The parents go on about 'facilitating learning in what they show an interest in'. Well the boy is clearly showing an interest in wanting to read but the parents seem to think it's not appropriate for his age so he is left to it (unless they teach him and it just wasn't included in the programme but that seems very unlikely considering Stacey's conversation with the mum about literacy).

Why don't we cut off their £900 benefits a month and then see if the dad thinks work is 'in his psyche' then?

Those Saccone Jollys were terrifying - now these unschoolers. Scarier than watching the news. I feel so sorry for all of the children. I really think there needs to be a change in the law about profiting from children and exposing them online. As for letting your child stare at a screen all day learning nothing, again who is checking this stuff??

GwenCooper81 · 28/09/2019 17:27

The un schoolers mum runs a Facebook page 'The unconventional mother'. I've had to move away from it.. Rage inducing! The dad belongs to a wild swimming group that I'm part of (it's national, I don't 'know' him). He's more than capable of swimming in the cold sea and running on the beach.. Yet won't work?.

RavenclawWriter · 30/09/2019 12:19

I don't really care about the benefits thing but I found it disgusting that they can't be bothered helping their children to develop. Kids depend on their parents to teach them, both how to be in the world as well as a good standard of education. There are some fantastic homeschoolers but the kid is 8 and can't read. He's missing out on so much! It's going to be difficult for him to learn about things he's interested in if he can't read! There was definitely laziness there, as they don't have a problem with their kids staring at tablets for hours. I was particularly disgusted by the vaccination thing. OK there may be side effects of vaccinations but the effect of not having them could be that you die. So not much of a choice!
I'm very pro breastfeeding and kids having pets but hey before vaccinations most kids had those things yet still died in droves due to now preventable diseases.

I couldn't get too worked up over the other families. Though I didn't know about the cold shower thing - that's disgusting!
The cage fighting family were full of so much love. It was wonderful to see!

GrimDamnFanjo · 30/09/2019 19:14

I've enjoyed watching these so far but I do wish Stacey would sometimes go deeper.
The polyamory couple to me didn't present as genuine. I really felt the wife wanted to be with her girlfriend and the girlfriend had already friend zoned the husband. I just felt that she was bi and with a man she didn't really want to be with sexually. I've seen other documentaries which have explored the relationship dynamics more thoroughly to be honest.
The SacconeJolys should have been asked more about consent and privacy. And about how they make their living and what they have to commit to. What is their Plan B when the internet moves on?

Freshair1 · 24/02/2023 19:09

Oh my days she was massively flirting with the cage fighter's dad!
