Very tender 3rd movement.

You lot are really missing out you know. Very underrated is old Schuman.

Oh I do love these threads where people talk to themselves, Sdg (I've done it meself a few times!)

Do they do listen again on 4?

WendyWeber · 06/08/2007 21:47

Ohhh - it's telly, isn't it? Bum.

MrsJohnCusack · 06/08/2007 21:53

quite appropriate really given Schumann's multiple personalities

harpsichordcarrier · 06/08/2007 21:59

I was talking to myself on another proms thread the other day.
sorry I missed the Schumann, prob repeated.
did you see the Haydn Seasons, I thought it was a bit dull

Bink · 06/08/2007 22:00

oh poo I missed that.
I have a crush, unashamedly, on Schumann just at the moment, since the revelation of Kreisleriana at the Wigmore in May (am coming to this stuff late in life) & then another piano piece & then some very breath-taking lieder.

Any more later in season??

Slubberdegullion · 07/08/2007 08:18

not sure bink.

Tonight it is:

Suzy Klein presents Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem and Mahler's 10th Symphony, left unfinished at his death, but completed by Derek Cooke, performed by the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Gianandrea Noseda.
Starts at 7.30.

Will prob be listening to that too. I love Britten.

I wish I could remember the words Kingsley Amis put to the main theme in the last movement of Schumann's fourth symphony. It was something like this:

I'm furiously crossing my eyes
And angrily gnashing my teeth...

Forgotten the rest. Any suggestions?

Slubberdegullion · 07/08/2007 09:32

Am thinking this thread should have been put in Culture Vultures

Bonaventura I have no idea, sorry!
