Never watched this before and really couldn't understand the Aiden Turner fascination. However last night I watched the first two episodes of series 1 on Netflix and boy oh boy do I understand now!!!! Consider me hooked!!

As well as loving the horse he rides and really wanting to gallop over the cliffs on it!

Oh and getting addicted to this programme is putting me seriously behind on packing up my house for moving!!! Would I be totally unreasonable to move the TV into the room that I'm packing up?! 😜

I don’t think E ever hated R & D.

She always loved R (to the bitter end IMO) & was jealous of D, & also of the happiness they (mostly) had, which was far more equitable than either of her marriages, but she recognised that she’d made her own bed.

I think if F had lived the 4 of them would ultimately have had a fairly sound & pleasant relationship.

I never forgave Winston Graham for killing F just when things were coming good for him & all of them Sad

May I encourage everyone to read thebooks? They are absolutely wonderful (and put this telly series to utter shame).

GiantKitten · 17/08/2019 21:01

Read the first 7 anyway. It’s a whole different world from book 8 on. I didn’t enjoy them nearly as much - only read each one once, where I’d read all the others several times each.

Watch the original series and read the books. Forget this shambles of a production which bears no relation to the books. Debbie Horsfield had the nerve to say she considered the characters hers as much as Winston Graham's. Hmm

The books will be on my Christmas list 😁😁 does anyone know why series 4 isn’t on Netflix or iplayer? And where it is?! X

I have it downloaded on my laptop. I can always put it on google drive for anyone that's desperate... (I'm on holiday, need to check that DH brought laptop!)

Agree agree rockbird

Between the last series and this there is an eleven year gap in the books. (we then get more of a focus on Ross and Demelza's children). Hence everything in this series is made up shizz and utterly annoying. Poor Winston.

Wow!! I too came to this party late. And the only advantage is that I was able to binge watch all 5 series (had to buy series 4 from iTunes). OMG. The first series especially had amazing chemistry between Ross and Demelza, thought the Enys’s were divine and although the stories did seem repeated I can imagine that there were repeated disasters in that age. Wasn’t really sure of Morwenna to start with but thought she was a good actress and really came into her own. Cannot believe her sister! Loved all the actors that played Geoffrey Charles. Loved Aunt Agatha. Are we meant to believe that Ross did actually do the VBD? Or was it consensual in the end? I now want to read the books...

Loved Ross’s hair...and Demelza I thought was very pretty and the perfect foil to Ross. Great casting all round.
