No idea where to ask this about amazon prime movies.

Have amazon prime and I've downloaded a few films onto a tablet for my child to watch. I get that it lasts 48 hours once you start to watch it and 30 days until you do, before 'disappearing?' What does it mean when it says about reconnecting to your home WiFi to keep it available on the tablet?

Are they films you have paid for? If you're downloading films that are included with Prime then they should be there forever?
You need the Prime player rather than downloading from the Amazon site itself.

Basically you need to be connected to Wi-Fi at least once in a 30 day period so they can verify you are a prime member. It's to stop people downloading loads of stuff to keep and just cancelling their prime membership. You don't have to actively do anything once you are connected to Wi-Fi it just checks automatically in the background

Thanks, I had a feeling it was something to do with connecting to WiFi but didn't really get the reason behind it or how it works. I've seen (notification comes up) that once you start a downloaded film you have 48 hours to finish watching, but it can be redownloaded.

Not films I've bought just included with prime membership. It's for the kids to watch on long car journeys and it's in the video app Smile
