New thread for tonight's episode. 15 minutes to go!

Yes, there was a 'clean' drug addict who was a handmaid in one of the previous series and she said sex once a month with a clean man on a comfy bed was better than selling herself for sex day in day out so she could buy drugs. Don't they say the 'born agains' are always the most fervent believers!

BentBastard · 02/07/2019 15:32

Except that was also the same handmaiden that, although initially pious, then blew everyone up after having her tongue cut out for refusing to stone Janine (Ofglen #2)

BentBastard · 02/07/2019 15:33

*handmaid

MargoLovebutter · 02/07/2019 15:37

Oh, I'd forgotten that BentBastard!

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 02/07/2019 18:24

I didn't actually realise that was the same handmaid!

BentBastard · 02/07/2019 19:15

I wouldn't have realised or remembered if I hadn't re watched series one and two in anticipation of series three.

OytheBumbler · 02/07/2019 23:05

Just caught up with this episode.

I'm enjoying it overall, even with the massive plot holes. The only thing that bothers me is June's face when she looks really smug. I don't think that's how it's supposed to come across but it really annoys me.

I hope we find out Aunt Lydia's back story. She's one of the most interesting characters, along with the Emily storyline.

RHTawneyonabus · 03/07/2019 21:20

I think when June was pregnant Lydia spoke about her nephew and how she would ‘never let anything happen to a child’ in a way that sounded very offended but also like something might have gone wrong in the past.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 04/07/2019 09:25

Im wondering if there's going to be some connection between Luke campaigning in support for 'Chi-Town' (and I agree with pp he isn't sharp enough to realise they might want nichole back) and Nick being sent to the front line - he's in Chicago now isn't he? Could he be captured and become a POW?

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 04/07/2019 09:25

And yes I was hoping for some aunt lydia back story too :)

Andylion · 04/07/2019 15:46

I think her character is important enough that she deserves a backstory.

LizzieMacQueen · 05/07/2019 14:44

Catching up with you all. I'm reminded of the hideousness of it all with Nick's teenage wife (Erin?). Drowned with her boyfriend.

MyDcAreMarvel · 05/07/2019 14:48

Eden, yes.

Andylion · 05/07/2019 15:00

I also want to see Aunt Lydia's backstory because I think Ann Dowd is a terrific actress. I don't want a really old flashback as I want to see more of AD, not a younger actress playing a younger Aunt Lydia.

MotherWol · 05/07/2019 15:39

In S2 June asks Aunt Lydia to be her baby's godmother, and AL reveals that she was godmother to her nephew who died at a few days old, but it wasn't my fault. Which makes me think either AL was responsible, and has had some kind of psychotic split, or she genuinely wasn't, but holds herself responsible for missing an opportunity to save the baby's life.

TildaKauskumholm · 05/07/2019 16:14

Just watched this - yes some plot holes but a big one for me - is such a young baby clearly identifiable?

LizzieMacQueen · 05/07/2019 18:42

Eden, yes thank you @MyDcAreMarvel

chilling19 · 05/07/2019 19:14

Excellent episode despite the holes in the plot. Sobbed most of the way through.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 05/07/2019 19:20

is such a young baby clearly identifiable?

She might not be but Luke is. He got right in the Waterfords’ faces when they were in Canada so it would just be a question of joining the dots.

AGnu · 06/07/2019 11:28

They know June's history so they'll know who she's married to. When Nichole went missing they'd have at least considered the possibility that she might end up in Canada. Luke appearing with a baby the same age & with the same name... I think it's reasonable to assume it might be the same baby!
