In Ireland travellers, under Equal Status Act and have their own heading the Act prohibits discriminations and covers nine grounds of gender, marital status, family status, age disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, and membership of the Traveller community.
Travellers are treated as a separate ethnic minority to Irish people in Ireland.
I am Irish and from the same hometown as Maura, don't know her through and while I thought the comment about picking out the caravan was funny I did raise an eye to the fact that she was Irish meant that she was somehow more attracted to a traveller which I did think was a bit strange.
