Love Island 2019 thread!

Please tell me I'm not the only one sad enough to spend 7 weeks watching this every night!!! 😀

Not to get too heavy but I wonder if they have chosen insta people on purpose. The effect going on the programme must be huge to 'normal' people and what with the aftercare of these types of programmes in the limelight it just seems easier to go down this route.

They definitely always choose people with a big instagram following. This has always been the case I think.

I don't think I can bring myself to watch it this year! The whole Instagram thing is just boring now.

I don't want 'normal' looking people on LI, I can see them anytime by talking a walk down my high street!

I think I read somewhere they were going for people with a small amount of fame already (but IG famous) or who are related to celebs or previous contestants to avoid or lessen the potential mental health issues as Summersunshine2 mentioned.

My favourite series was the one with Cara & Nathan. A real mix in personalities and probably the best boys I have see loved the Chris and Kem series too. I watched the first series on Netflix recently as missed it the first time around and I thought that wasn't bad either! All better then last series which I felt was really obvious in its way of creating fake drama and the people on it just bored me

I think it’ll just be people after fame and not love now.

But that's the whole premise of the show! Being as convincing as possible that your romance is genuine and not just for the win on a show which is full of people trying to win a show, not fall in love.

I've been watching every year and will be tuning in this time as well, can't wait, this show is my guilty pleasure. My favorite seasons were 2 and 3 as well! They had the best cast so far.

My favourite was the year Carla & Nathan won. I was a bit disappointed by last year's tbh.

I've been looking forward to it for ages. Last Monday I set my sky planner to record the series (as it only gives you the listings for the next 7 days so couldn't do it until Monday), I updated the app and it told me my votes will automatically update as I'm registered. Summer has started now as far as I'm concerned.

I've just look at updates from last year and none of them are still together. Not even Jack & Dani!

I just hope it's not pretty obvious from early on who will win this year. (Last year I had a strong feeling from early on who would win which made it slightly less interesting). Would be better if it was more open I think

Yes happymummy there was a lot of hype that Dani would probably win before they even went in, before any coupling up.

I am ridiculously excited about tonight. I'm on maternity leave at the moment so have created a WhatsApp group with some work friends so I don't miss out on the daily love island office gossip!

its just a easy way to cast dull people.
