Hail survivors of The Battle of Winterfell.

The 'mysterious' episode 4 premieres tonight.

Who will be with us at 2am?

I am desperate to find out if Arya's kill is openly discussed and acknowledged, or does Bran take the credit, or does it remain a mystery.

Given Emilia Clarke has said Episode 5 is the one for which we will need 'bigger television screens' what will lead up to it?

Who should Sansa have been more loyal to?

As far as I can see the people she’s betrayed have been total cunts.

BookshopSally · 07/05/2019 12:20

Random question to settle a confusion in our house. How do you pronounce Arya's name?

It's further confused by some northern accents and some RP in the show.

So spoken in an RP accent, is it:

  1. Are-ya (first syllable rhymes with far)
  2. Eye-ya (first syllable rhyme with high)
  3. Arry-a (first syllables rhyme with Harry)
ChipsAreLife · 07/05/2019 12:24

I'm really confused by the Sansa hate. I think she's the smartest of them all. She saved Jon's arse at the Battle of the Bastards and this episode was worried about the state of the army which fell on deaf ears.

She told Tyrion because Jon is blinded by love and Dany is not thinking straight for whatever reason. She trusts Tyrion and knows he wants peace now like her.

I'd quite like to see Sansa kill Cersei, they keep hinting at how she's changed from what she's been through could it be that much I wonder? Jamie just feels too obvious

NormaLouiseBates · 07/05/2019 12:25

@BookshopSally it's definitely, 100% 1) Are-ya (first syllable rhymes with far) GRRM has confirmed it more than once. I think the confusion comes from other characters saying it differently (Sansa for one).

ElenadeClermont · 07/05/2019 12:34

Sansa's best friend was Jeyne Poole. Once Sansa got bored of her, Jeyne was sent to a brothel and in the books forced to marry Ramsey pretending to be Sansa. Not sure about the show.
Sansa owes nothing to Tyrion, but one of the main claims against Tyrion was that Sansa ran after the Purple Wedding. She was quite right to.
Where is creepy Sweetrobin BTW?

This is why I hope that she changed and will form true and long-lasting friendships. On past form I would not like my life to depend on her friendship.

PreseaCombatir · 07/05/2019 12:34

I like the idea of Sansa being the younger, more beautiful queen to take down Cersei.

NunoGoncalves · 07/05/2019 12:35

Even if you thought he was wrong and only thinking with his dick

Then I'd tell him that. I'd try to persuade him. I wouldn't go behind his back. Cos I'm not a dick.

PreseaCombatir · 07/05/2019 12:37

Book Sansa and show Sansa are at VERY different points.
Book Sansa is only just learning. Very slowly.
Show Sansa is applying what she knows, she’s so much further along. The show and the books are two completely different things to me now

PreseaCombatir · 07/05/2019 12:39

She literally could not have tried to tell him more. He knew what was going to happen, that’s why he told her. He 100% deep down knew what she would do.

That's a pretty good reddit sub for anyone interested.

PreseaCombatir · 07/05/2019 12:42

How spoilery is it though Sylvia?
I like discussing the theory’s but I want to be surprised by the end

NunoGoncalves · 07/05/2019 12:45

Lol. I think that's a bit of a leap. All I'm saying is she was wrong to swear not to tell a soul and then immediately tell someone. I don't care what her reasons or motivations are, it's a dick move. Nothing will persuade me otherwise.

SylviaAndSydney · 07/05/2019 12:46

They have spoiler warnings Presea but they're for anyone not up to date with the current episode, it's mainly discussing the episodes like on here really.

merrymouse · 07/05/2019 12:49

Ned Stark lost his head because he nobly kept a secret. Perhaps he wasn’t a dick to his friend, but things didn’t turn out too well for his family.

It’s really not clear that Dany would have happily trusted the Starks to keep her secret, and if Jon were a bit more objective he would see this. Arguably it’s a bit of a dick move for him to tell them in the first place.

Notrusthere · 07/05/2019 12:53

I hated Sansa up until she killed Bolton. Now she's one of my favourites, along with Tormund, Tyrion and the hound.

Arya I'm coming to like again, I went off her when she was training to be a faceless man.

John and Dany I loved until this series, now i would be quite happy to see someone else end up on the throne.

Xyzzzzz · 07/05/2019 12:56

I agree merrymouse.

Dany asked that Jon not say anything cause he said he didn’t want it. He told Sansa and Arya. Sansa then blabbed to Tyrion. He’s then blabbed to Varys. Varys will use this info to get Jon on throne, which he doesn’t want so I can imagine him giving it to Sansa - if Dany goes the same route as her father and becomes the mad Queen. Jon would then stay up north.

I think Sansa knowingly told Tyrion, so she would have an upper hand. She’s just playing the game of thrones. I think she’s similar to Cersei.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 07/05/2019 12:57

I’ve not been paying attention as much as I should, how does Tyrion know that Cersi is pregnant?

AliceRR · 07/05/2019 12:59

I’ve not been paying attention as much as I should, how does Tyrion know that Cersi is pregnant?

I think from end of season 7 when Tyrion spoke to Cersei alone about her supporting the war against the whites (after they brought a white walker to shower everyone what the were up against)

I think so anywta

AliceRR · 07/05/2019 12:59

anyway*

maxiflump1 · 07/05/2019 13:01

@LarryGreysonsDoor Jamie told Tyrion about the pregnancy earlier in the season.

maxiflump1 · 07/05/2019 13:03

@AliceRR you are right! I had totally forgotten that scene!

MaddieElla · 07/05/2019 13:09

“If one of my children had just been killed, I wouldn’t steer the other one right towards the killer.”

But she did exactly that. Confused When the dragon died she flew straight for the boat with Euron and he fired at her, she turned at the last second.

Why didn’t she dracarys the lot of them when she dived?

PreseaCombatir · 07/05/2019 13:10

At this point I think Sansa being a bit of a dick to her cousin is the least of their concerns.

cottonwoolmouth · 07/05/2019 13:15

I’ve just watched the throne cast and got a bit Hmm at the three blokes pulling Danny to pieces. I don’t think she is turning in the mad queen she is just massively pissed off! So would I!

I still think she deserves the throne. She’s pulled them out of the shit a few times and didn’t get the recognition she deserved. With out her winter fell would be a walking ice zombie lodge Grin

Just don’t buy in to the Jaime and Brienne romance at all. You can love some one one but it not be on a sexual level, I thought these two were firmly in that camp. Wasn’t impressed at the writers having her bawling at him leaving. Nah not Brienne.

Thought episode 4 was odd tbh. Too rushed.

cottonwoolmouth · 07/05/2019 13:27

I just don’t understand why the writers insisted on shortening the episodes on the final stretch that’s took us ten years to get to Confused

Important scenes being done off camera is just so lazy it’s like they are just rushing to get it over with.

Apparently the writers will be locked away in an undisclosed place, phones off, opening several bottles wine. Maybe so they don’t hear of the back lash for an ending of a ten year show with more holes in it than my 80s fishnets?
