Does anyone (else) find the MFI adverts really really awful and depressing and unnecessary?

The ones where people 'make themselves at home' in the MFI showroom by having the most vitriolic, shouty, downright NASTY rows with one another...

I'm finding them really winceworthy. I certainly wouldn't feel happy if the dds saw them. Why can't they use the same premise with a more humorous /lighthearted script? Is it just me??

god thanks for posting this. They are really awful aren't they? The one with the scraggy daughter coming in and getting shouted at and doors slamming. Are they supposed to represent ordinary family life? Horrible.

Just read some of the other posts (memo to self - do this first in future)

I don't understand what's so funny about them. They seem really charmless to me. I could see the idea if people felt so at home in MFI that they were doing the funny things people do at home - including shouting - but not in such an aggresive and horrible way. The ones I've seen just look like they all hate each other. Why does that make me want to buy an MFI kitchen? Don't get.

Don't get it, OK so your showrooms are so realistic you feel at home enough to argue????

What about all the other things we would do if we "felt at home".

I know - like shagging on the worktops

MyEye · 18/07/2007 09:41

I think their Advertising agency has made a major fcuk up with these ads, I have to switch off when they come on, they are just not nice at all. I suppose it has got people talking about them though

I'm never going to MFI again. They are encouraging the myth that it is the norm for family life to be full of arguments and shouting.

pigleto · 18/07/2007 16:04

I have never been to mfi so I am not their target audience. Horrid shouty people. I am glad my home is not like that.

yama · 18/07/2007 16:06

Actually, scub 'again' - I've never been before either.

bobsmum · 18/07/2007 16:08

Liesel - the shagging one's been done last year by IKEA. They had a photo of the factory robots at it on a kitchen workshop - something about undergoing rigorous testing

stealthsquiggle · 18/07/2007 16:12

I think they are brilliant - I mean, face it - when was the last time you noticed an MFI ad campaign?!

TinyGang · 18/07/2007 16:18

Well, the source of much heated 'tension' in our house are the MFI drawers in dt's room which have to be continually glued together again because they fall apart like joke furniture.

'Awful, depresssing and unnecessary' sums up MFI quite neatly including their adverts.
