In the book, Sansa realises she'd rather be married to Tyrion than the others people try to force on her Grin. Her aunt Lysa asks and Sansa' first thought was that Tyrion was kind to her.

Who is dead? WHO IS DEAD?!!!

It was really dark and I'm not convinced I saw everything that happened.

3 of my Absolutely Must Not Die list have gone - Ed, Lyanna and Beric. If any more bought it while I was hiding behind my cushion, I will be extremely unhappy.

And why did Arya suddenly end up running about in the crypts? Before the adverts she was throwing herself about somewhere near Beric and the Hound. After the break, she was sneaking about in the basement. Did I miss something?

Ginger1982 · 29/04/2019 22:58

Jorah died too 😢

KoalaTea · 29/04/2019 23:03

Just finished watching it... honestly spent a lot of it pissed off because whoever wrote it is an idiot.. Any sane commander would have sent the dragons in to light the dead up first.. not hand the Dothraki to them on a plate like that.

The lighting was ridiculous and there was too much trying to work out what the fuck was going on.. the sound was shit, couldn't hear anyone talking so turned it up and then got deafened by the bloody music.

I'd honestly got to the point when Theon died that I just thought.. I dont want to watch any more of this series.. its shit.

Then Arya did her thing. WOO HOO.

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 29/04/2019 23:56

Jorah's always been toast walking.

If Bran can see the future, why isn't he the one sorting all this shit out?

Jon/Aegon and Danny, now they know their blood relationship, that's just disgusting.

The more I think about the episode, the more annoyed I am. This annoyed me most at the time. According to the double Ds, they had a great plan but Dany fucked it up by being upset by watching pretty much all the Dothraki die, so she deviated from it and all hell broke loose. 🙄 But why didn’t they use the dragons to burn the dead so that what happened couldn’t happen? What was the point of setting the Dothraki swords on fire, apart from having a nice visual indication for Dany?

Yikes, the plotting in this episode was not good.

The crypt stuff was massively annoying. You can’t sell two characters as the most intelligent people in the whole world and then have them fail to notice that the “safest place in Winterfell” is full of dead people. Come on now. And when they came out from behind the tomb, what did they actually do about it?
(They better fall in love though)

Where did Arya come from? How did she get to the weir wood? How the fuck did Jon survive being literally surrounded by wights?

Bran encourages Theon to die knowing that within sixty seconds the NK and the entire problem will be gone? What a dick.

No way would have any them survived this - I did a big fist pump for Jorah saving Dany but it was of course absolutely ridiculous.

And where is Gendry? They better not have killed him or I will riot.

I don’t want to be a moaner. Some of it was awesome but overall I’m so disappointed.

And I wish they’d stop spoiling the appearance of characters in episodes with the names on the credits. It’s so irritating - thank god Melisandre arrived early.

SinkGirl · 30/04/2019 07:43

They actually said, oh they couldn’t have predicted how upset Dany would get by seeing the Dothraki basically exterminated...

Really? Dany, upset by her loyal army being completely obliterated? SHOCKING. 🙄

Lweji · 30/04/2019 08:02

Because it was his redemption. And it was probably necessary for the WK to relax and not pay attention to a little girl. He was dead anyway. He could have shown courage or not. He did.

Lweji · 30/04/2019 08:09

How the fuck did Jon survive being literally surrounded by wights?
Wasn't that when Dany charged with dragon fire?
Then stupidly waited for her dragon to be mounted by wights.

I mean, she did charge in with fire but he managed to keep himself alive for a while and kill a lot of wights before that from what I saw...

I know it’s Theon’s redemptiom, but still.

In fact, I’ve just realised that assembling the greatest army the world has ever seen was a bit bloody stupid. They should have had Winterfell manned by no one, stuck Bran in the weirwood and made Arya a hiding place. Same result, but with fewer reanimated dead people and Lyanna is still alive. Idiots.

😂

KoalaTea · 30/04/2019 09:52

What I couldn' t work out is how many dragons were left.. did they kill the dead one, then kill another so only Dani's is left?

Honeyroar · 30/04/2019 09:57

I didn't understand why they didn't send the dragons in first either. (Although at one point the guys on the ground were standing looking baffled that the dragons weren't there, then Jorah said "they can't see us" meaning the smoke and ice was hiding the wights. see it wasn't just us that couldn't see!!). I also thought that there would be no way on earth that Dany would have let her whole armies be the front line. She lost everything, and I wondered if it was over confidence in them and brawn, but then I remembered that the unsullied already got trapped and caught out at the Lanister's family castle.

sashh · 30/04/2019 09:59

But the people of the North would have been killed and turned in their homes as the NK and his army marched, they stood a better chance in Winterfell.

SinkGirl · 30/04/2019 10:02

They could have evacuated everyone between the wall and Winterfell - would have made no difference.

Just feels like they’ve killed a ton of people for no reason 🤷‍♀️

Honeyroar · 30/04/2019 10:02

There were two dragons left in the trailer for the next episode. When Drogan laid down around Dany crying over Jorah I thought he was dying too and they'd be going fighting Cersei with none.

I wondered why they didn't have armies all around Winterfell on the walls rather than riding out to meet the wights? Perhaps because the Dothraki need to fight on a galloping horse? I felt sorry for them. They'd overcome their fear of water and travelling on boats and immediately got wiped out the first place they went!

Also, why do the wights March about 5mph, like the cast of Thriller, yet turn in to speedy Gonzales when they attack? If they marched at that speed normally the Night King could have had this all done in the first couple of series!

Not sure they'd have been able to lure the NK without depleting much of his army. What's his range on raising the dead? It can't be more than a few hundred yards.
And he was kind of forced to use his undead dragon.

Anyway...
Now, as Cersei planned, the army of the North is severely depleted (about a dozen heros) and she is safely at Westeros with a Golden Army.

They are going to the iron islands

Honeyroar · 30/04/2019 10:21

The Golden Army weren't good enough to notice Theon sneak in and save his sister though...

youngestisapsycho · 30/04/2019 10:40

When the trenches were finally lit, all the Wights were standing behind. Dany, on her dragon saw the trenches light up, and there was a scene when Jon and his dragon landed on the wall of the castle and Jon was looking at all the Wights... they could have surely then burnt them all with the dragons! It reeeealy annoyed me!

SinkGirl · 30/04/2019 11:22

Yup. And they could have burnt all the dead and prevented them from being reanimated

Also, what kind of a plan is “oh look, the burning trenches are working - let’s just stand here on the walls until they figure out a way to get through, then we’ll try to kill them”

Agh. I really don’t want to pick holes in it, but they’ve made that very difficult!

Not sure they'd have been able to lure the NK without depleting much of his army.

Why not? He was coming for Bran, he was always going to come for Bran, he and his army was marching south regardless. If they’d found no resistance at Winterfell and it appeared they’d all marched south and left Bran behind, they could still have got him.

This is the problem when the whole lot can be taken out by killing one, and that one has a set objective

Also, I may be remembering it wrong, but IIRC correctly, Jeor Mormont was attacked by a dead night’s watch dude who was brought back to castle black dead and then reanimated? Don’t think the NK was nearby then?

In which case, why did they go and fight the whole army of the dead last season when they could have just killed someone / waited for someone to die, and then just hung around until the NK’s next dead-raising.

youngestisapsycho · 30/04/2019 11:25

Couldn't the Wights have just kept marching south and bypassed Winterfell altogether??
