Apologies if there is a there is a thread but I looked and couldn't see one.
I missed the show last week as I was at the GN. Recorded it. Thought the GB was OK but not all the raving...
Looking forward to seeing Susan Boyle tonight... ♥

Just relieved there hasn't been any bloody dogs this year, that would make me switch off.

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 09:55

I don't like dogs but I would take a dog act above all the dross that we've seen so far on BGT this year.

Rumbletum2 · 14/04/2019 10:02

There was a clip of a dog act at the end of BGMT.

I get really fed up when professionals go on there. It’s meant to be for normal people fgs. Jonathan Goodwin has had his own show! 😡

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 10:07

If I was in charge it would be an immediate no to

Singers - go on the Voice or X Factor
Choirs-give Gareth Malone a bell
Dance troupes-Yawn. Diversity nailed that years ago.
Magicians-zzzzz
Escapologists-zzzzz
'Comedians' especially precocious cringey child ones
Ventriloquists-zzzzz
Contortionists-ouch
Knife throwers and stuff involving fire.

What does that leave? Grin

The80sweregreat · 14/04/2019 10:20

Sparkling, problem is , who is left? Lol

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 10:27

Yeah, I think I have ruled everything out. But there may be some originality in what's left. Possibly. Grin

I just feel sorry for her Majesty having to potentially sit through some really boring unoriginal acts.

The80sweregreat · 14/04/2019 10:37

I'm sure the Queen likes a Dog act though.
Pudsey was entertaining (bless him) but it has all been done before I agree.

I would love someone to do a ' heavy metal , rock band x factor' but it wouldn't be very mainstream or popular I suppose.

Mammyloveswine · 14/04/2019 10:41

I loved that comedy singer last week... very Victoria wood!

Im a teacher and had so many colleagues share those kids saying "this is what teaching is all about" when in reality they're data driven bores who would go mad if i suggested doing something like that!

The head seemed like the "performance" teachers I've known over the years who get graded outstanding when being observed/ofsteded but are shit the rest of the time..

Loved that 12 year old but unsure on the song choice...

That Jonathan did have a crazy look in his eye!

Loved that mind reader!

Thought that comedian was a bit shit and surprised at simon!

I really liked that Australian and the japenese man is my fave Grin

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 10:42

Oooh like bands with big hair? Or 'hairbands' as someone called them? Whitesnake/Bon Jovi/Def Leppard stuff. I would love that. Grin

I only found out recently Pudsey had died. Sad

The80sweregreat · 14/04/2019 10:49

Poor Pudsey.
Yes, I watched top of the pops on bbc four the other day and Def leppard and their one armed drummer was on there doing / (miming) 'Animal'!

Metallica always sells out any venues and lots of young people adore the old groups like Iron Maiden / Bon Jovi etc so it might be a winner! Just wouldn't be everyone's taste I suppose.

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 10:51

Maybe 'Britain's Got 80s Talent'? Bands with very pretty men in, and ones with big hair? I would watch. Grin

NobodysBlackerThanMe · 14/04/2019 11:00

Seems to be a sharp decline in quality this year. The Houdini act we've seen before. The black comedian was just average. The psychic guy seems like a plant to bring Any back into our hearts.

And Aleesha's tops, if she's going to have them really low cut can she not wear a push up bra? Just looks weird.

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 11:31

I think it's telling that in years gone by the BGT thread was hotly anticipated and would be very fast moving with loads of posters and would very often go to multiple threads.

Not like that now. I am wondering if TV talent shows are on the decline. I quite like the spinny chair thing on The Voice but stop watching after those rounds.

X Factor I haven't watched since Leona won. Big Brother is no more.

Quite liked the West End show searches though especially Lee Mead winning.

Time for something new?

lotusbell · 14/04/2019 11:37

I didn't see the school last week, but as they are one of the schools I am linked to through work, it was news on our work internet pages. The school released a Christmas single last year and the head is all about making kids dreams come true etc. I thought the act itself was amusing and witty but didn't get the tears and I think the head is projecting a lot of his err, 'ambitions' of stardom onto those kids! Thought the Christmas single was a one off but believe the auditions for BGT would be pre-Dec so theres obviously some kind of fame mission here!

cushellekoala · 14/04/2019 11:42

The formula seems to be if you're under 10, over 65 or have a dog you can basically fart a tune do anything you like and they'll think you're amazing! The comedian was vaguely funny, but not hilarious and certainly not worth a gb. The hand squelching guy (for want of a better word) was much funnier although imagine fairly limited on how he could improve. Dd (12) said the houdini guy shouldn't win as he would give the Queen a heart attack!

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 11:44

I think a judging panel clearout would improve things.

The80sweregreat · 14/04/2019 12:27

Yes, needs a new format!

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 14/04/2019 13:01

My Dp was thinking that Simon Cowell did it to save Aleesha's ass. Last year she hit the golden buzzer and got stick for it. She may have done it again this year and she would have just got so much more crap thrown at her. The act was good but not golden buzzer good.

Piggywaspushed · 14/04/2019 14:34

I am all for 'making kids dreams come true' but more for the ambition to achieve and aspire than seek fleeting fame. However, it's not new. Am just old enough to remember St Winifred's School Choir!

Piggywaspushed · 14/04/2019 14:36

Whe you said Pudsey died it took me ages to work out it wasn't Pudsey the bear!!

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2019 14:40
Grin

He's alive and well apart from the bandage I think!

Piggywaspushed · 14/04/2019 16:58

Well, that's a relief!

eeyoredebbie · 15/04/2019 07:25

Who else has had a golden buzzer this year did I miss one on the first episode?

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2019 07:36

Over enthusiastic school ripping off Sainsburys ad and the unfunny comedian. Unless I have missed one?

eeyoredebbie · 15/04/2019 12:50

Thanks sparklingbrook who pressed for the school act? I must have been asleep lol
