I just want to move to France and buy a castle. 😂 Anyone else?

I love Angela style, and the castle is fabulous. They seem such a lovely close family and always include Angels parents too.

I have just watched the first one of these so it’s years old I guess

I honestly cannot believe my flat would buy a chateau and ten acres of land!

Ooooooh has watching this made you want to do it? @RosaWaiting 😊

tickled yes! But I have asked sister and friends before about joining me for a house that needs doing up and they said no.

Elderly mother means I can't do it now, but in future....maybe I'll just have to go it alone.

tbh it's not the huge house that appeals, it's the land. 10 acres to yourself. Amazing.

I preferred it's not easy being green too. It seemed more authentic.

Little did I know how life's path would bring me in such close proximity to it all. James is still lovely and his family really are fantastic.

The first wife is living a good life and seems happy. I don't think anyone should be discussing why a marriage ended on a public forum. That's a private matter.

Dick definitely seems to have lots of different skills. I wonder how much help he gets though. The BBC didn't fund the first TV series, they still own the farmhouse, but I do wonder what funding channel 4 give the châteaux.

The various series of this are my all time favourites! l've recorded loads of them (and still ongoing, as l've missed a few episodes), and every so often l'll have a binge and watch the lot in order.
The place is stunning. l think the moat makes it for me. l love Angel, she's nicely quirky and creative, but Dick is wonderful. He can turn his hand to almost anything, and he has a lovely 'twinkle'. lt must be amazing to live in such a beautiful place, even bearing in mind how much work it entails.
My lovely stepsons know how much l love it, and they sent me the book, which is gorgeous.
l really like the DIY series too, it's nice to see how other people are renovating and managing their chateaux.

I don't know how many seasons there are or if there are any featuring other people. I would love to see one with a singleton taking it on!

I literally just looked for it on All4 yesterday after a friend told me it was essential viewing for me!

where the hell do the children go whilst they're working like horses

Angel's parents live with them and do childcare --plus, I think both children are now at school?

I do like this, though I only ever previously encountered Dick Strawbridge on Coast, so have no attachment to his first family as some viewers clearly do. My questions are about why both their French seems to have remained so poor when they've been there quite a long time-- I gather that Dick has funded some of the renovations by doing other UK projects, so maybe he's gone for significant periods? Maybe Angel too? Also, they seem to use overwhelmingly British tradesmen, and have they ever had a wedding of French people? I just wonder about relationships with local people...

We watched the first series a few months ago- DH disliked Angel passionately.

There was an episode where Dick was doing something v technical and important (like making sure they had a roof or running water or something) that needed doing urgently, before winter came. Angel interrupted him to ask if he could just quickly knock up a wooden helterskelter for the kids playroom.

That made me laugh.

I love watching it. I am in awe of their skills. I struggle to put an IKEA coffee table together.
