I thought I would make a new thread quickly seeing that the first one is nearly full

why didn't they even mention that Julliette's bodice had the very large pattern skew whiff?

I hadn't noticed that at first, but checked when a PP mentioned it-I don't know how I didn't see it - it was so obvious! And it shouldn't have happened because it was a distinct and HUGE pattern that should have been easy to centre - and looked dreadful off centre.

Had the been Riccardo, he wouldn't have got the lickings of a dog!

Isn't Mercedes the one who had a career in bomb disposal? How is she not scattered into hundreds of pieces across a war zone with her inability to follow the detail of instructions?

You are right, American - I can only think that after 30-odd years of following instructions to the letter, with her heart in her mouth , Mercedes' brain has decided to take the rest of her life off!

She's lovely though, and I'll miss her.

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/03/2019 12:44

I've just watched and agree that Juliette's dress was skewiff although I loved her dustbin challenge outfit. I would have worn Mercedes' dress without the puffball hem - my DD had one in the 80s and it was a bugger to iron. Riccardo should have won garment of the week.

I have been thinking Juliette for winner in the end but it could be Riccardo. They could have edited comments to make it more exciting and for him to look like the dark horse finally proving himself. Don't forget this was filmed a while back and they knew who the winner was before the edit.

Your blouse looks really good, Fuzzy!

Fernie6491 · 13/03/2019 14:52

Juliet's dress reminded me of my colour choice nearly 48 years ago! I made my own wedding dress, but didn't want plain white, so chose a lace fabric, with a turquoise lining underneath!

Thank you all for your kind words.

SoupDragon · 13/03/2019 16:29

It should have been Riccardo for garment of the week. It was a beautiful dress and a perfect fit on his model.

Esme mentioned it pulling across the top where thepoint of the neckline was.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/03/2019 17:23

Fernie

Your dress is lovely.

SoMuchToBits · 13/03/2019 18:30

Lovely dress, Fernie ! I bet you didn't make yours from net curtains

dontcallmelen · 13/03/2019 18:37

Fuzzy that’s a really pretty blouse & very wearable
Fernie your dress is really lovely.

Staples under the armpits would be very uncomfortable melen and may, in the fullness of time, go rusty.

dontcallmelen · 13/03/2019 20:12

Hmm rusty armpits, not a good look & would involve possible tetanus injections

FuzzyPuffling · 13/03/2019 20:25

Wundaweb for armpit area.

dontcallmelen · 13/03/2019 20:31

By Jove Fuzzy that may be the answer to my no sew conundrum wonders if actually have to iron it on my armpit🤔

FuzzyPuffling · 13/03/2019 20:35

Probably works better than wax! OW!

dontcallmelen · 13/03/2019 20:44

😂

2rebecca · 13/03/2019 21:05

I agreed with all the decisions. How did they choose the models as some look easier to fit than others. Maybe it doesn't matter

DarlingNikita · 14/03/2019 12:16

I thought Riccardo's 50s dress was beautiful. Juliette's was nice but a bit of a costume – slightly Elsa from Frozen.

Mercedes cannot or will not follow a brief. What's wrong with her? I quite liked her as a personality but I'm glad she's gone as her inability to pay attention irritated me.

Janet's personality is coming out more and I'm warming to her. I liked when Joe asked who crowned her Queen of the Whatever-It-Was and she said 'Me.' Grin

I feel like Jen expects to win, which makes me like her a bit less.

I still find Leah a bit humourless and tense.

Patrick looked like Rupert the Bear in that jacket.

Riccardo's dress should have been garment of the week. It was beautiful

SileneOliveira · 14/03/2019 14:25

Did a shift in my local charity shop as normal this morning, priced up a whole load of different fabrics.

Flew out the door like snow off a dyke. Heard one person saying she was going to make beach bags out of some heavy fabric which was not unlike the fabric leah used for her dress.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/03/2019 19:03

I took a stack of curtain fabric (vintage Laura Ashley, projects I never got round to Blush) to the charity shop last week. Fully expecting to see it wandering round the town come summer Grin

Finally catching up. So just going to comment as I go even though I'm on my own and with an individual timeline. Trying not to get ahead of the TV on this thread.

Dilite that skirt is amazing! Are you a steampunk? Would be amazing as part of an outfit, would also look cool as non steampunk too!

Binglebong · 15/03/2019 22:14

No way do I throw away 30%! Pieces get kept and used. Tiny pieces get used for testing techniques and tension. That has shocked me.

Binglebong · 15/03/2019 22:15

I've lost some comments about the hideousness of the blouses. Angry

Binglebong · 15/03/2019 22:23

Wow that bea is amazing!

Both Ricardo and Mercedes should have channelled Coco Cannel and taken off the last item they put on. Both were a frill too many.

I generally thought the invention challenge looked a lot better than the technical. They looked like using a wide choice of fabric was deliberate, not someone trying to show off their eco credentials and how clever they were. Janet's was the only non hideous one.
