Can't believe I only just found this programme!! Watched the first half last night and thought the couple were just lovely - the lady had such a lovely smile and radiated joy and happiness about life in general!! Did feel sorry for their son who seemed to eat so many of his meals on a table in a separate room by himself.

Looking forward to trying out the chicken curry dish tonight!

It would be loads better without Liza Tarbuck narrating it!

I'd missed this new series too, there don't seem to be any episodes on Iplayer.

I think the dietician is good. She could have her own series.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 08/02/2019 15:26

I quite like Liza. She's one of the good things about the show.

I'm not sure where they recruit the families from though. None of them have heard of Aldi or Lidl, they seem confused by meal plans and shop without a list. They're definitely not MNers Grin

ny20005 · 08/02/2019 15:59

Poor old Greg & Chris wouldn't be able to make any savings for the families if they all went to Aldi or Lidl 😂

Although I'd love to see them challenged with someone who spends £40 a week in Aldi 😂

juneybean · 08/02/2019 16:00

Was this the finale of the series from last year? It kept saying prices correct as of spring 2017!?

SydneyCarton · 08/02/2019 16:15

Cringing at Gregg doing a street handshake with the boy 🤦‍♀️

caughtinanet · 08/02/2019 16:17

If this is the only episode you've seen don't expect the others to be the same. Most of the families will have you shouting at the TV about their wastefulness and ignorance of basic shopping and budgeting.

Cagliostro · 08/02/2019 16:19

I got very excited when a notification came up about a new episode :o my 11yo enjoys it too.

ChessieFL · 08/02/2019 16:20

I did find it amusing that whoever labels the food spelled ‘spaghetti’ wrong (it said ‘spagetti’)

Sarcelle · 08/02/2019 16:24

I noticed the 2017 prices too. And the dietician had long hair. In recent series she has a much shorter style, but perhaps she has extensions in now. But info on tv says yesterday was its first airing, not a repeat. Confusing, seems to have been shown out of context.

Drogosnextwife · 08/02/2019 16:26

I find it ridiculous. They only pick families that are spending about a grand a week on food shopping, of course they can save them money!

CrystalTits · 08/02/2019 16:26

Sarcelle - they have two different dietitians

TimeForMittensAndHats · 08/02/2019 16:27

what channel is this on? All I know is eat well for less

UpToonGirl · 08/02/2019 16:28

I've been waiting for this! I was watching it last year when it abruptly stopped, I knew it wasn't the last one as they showed a preview for the next week. Not really sure why they felt the need to give it a 6 month break?

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/02/2019 16:29

Do you mean eat well for less ?

AngelaStorm73 · 08/02/2019 16:31

I enjoy it even though it's irrelevant to normal people like me who already shop around, use a list, eat out very rarely and cook etc.

mydogisthebest · 08/02/2019 16:35

I thought this was the last one of the series that aired last year. Don't know why there was such a big gap between them though.

Also surely Liza Tarbuck no longer narrates this? I actually quite like her voice and am pretty sure she didn't do the last series or the one before that.

Last night's couple were really nice. I actually didn't shout at the tv for once

caughtinanet · 08/02/2019 17:03

I wonder if it's an older one that they didn't show for some reason unless Lisa Tarback has come back after a break

Lunde · 08/02/2019 17:20

I enjoyed last night's episode. I definitely want to try the chicken curry recipe!

However I got a distinct impression that the Dad wasn't really planning to give up any of his expensive brands!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 08/02/2019 19:14

Most of the families will have you shouting at the TV about their wastefulness and ignorance of basic shopping and budgeting. So I'm not the only one who shouts at the TV when this is on? Thank god for that! Grin

Wolfcub · 08/02/2019 19:23

I’m glad they brought the old dietician back. I didn’t think the new one was as good. Does anyone know if there will be anymore episodes or is this the last one for the series.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 08/02/2019 19:38

Does anyone know if there will be anymore episodes or is this the last one for the series. it said episode 8 of 8 Confused

TimeForMittensAndHats · 08/02/2019 20:30

Just watched it.

What the fuck... how on earth can he complain that the PEAS are a swap?! Peas are peas... made in the same factory but in different packaging.

Good Lord.

gamerchick · 08/02/2019 20:35

Although I'd love to see them challenged with someone who spends £40 a week in Aldi 😂

I say the same thing Grin

Instead they pick these ridiculous people with not an ounce of common sense between them.

GinisLife · 08/02/2019 20:53

I've always been really surprised that they don't make the families meal plan on here. I save loads the weeks I manage to plan rather than going round the supermarket picking up any old stuff - and then having nothing to actually make a meal with. I always feel they could save them far more than they do. Mind you, how some families spend as much as they do and don't realise is ridiculous

Blobby10 · 11/02/2019 11:42

For those of you who were interested in the chicken curry dish, we made it on Friday evening and it was really really nice!!! Very quick and easy to prepare as well and lots of opportunity to spice the dish up or down according to taste. I used paprika and cumin in the oats as I didn't have any curry powder and it was a gorgeous combination!
