Hope it's OK for me to start a new thread - could not believe we'd burned out on the last one.

Am looking forward to seeing highlights of the Fed/Tits match later.

The bit of his autobiography that sticks in my mind was when he sat on the stairs crying. You could really feel what he was going through Sad

I am making myself maudlin now!

JaneJeffer · 22/01/2019 23:09

Connors was great entertainment!

Raahh · 22/01/2019 23:13

Connors briefly coached Bouchard and Shrieky.
It didn't end well in either case.

Divas.

PrivateParkin · 22/01/2019 23:16

Or madams, as Mark Woodforde might say Grin

Connors would be a great coach for someone, surely... trying to think of a likely candidate...

Also, I hate to think of Rafa being so sad Sad

To derail and cheer us up and because I wanted to show Raahh here's Saara Aalto's "hat" at the National Television Awards Grin

Jane

That's amazingGrin

Never liked her much on X Factor, but love her since she left!

PrivateParkin · 22/01/2019 23:35

Who is that?! Grin Her hat looks like a yucca plant.

If we keep chatting for a bit longer, the tennis will be starting soon.. although actually I'm not that interested in these matches. Probably predictable winners, ie, Serena and Osaka.

Btw I see Svitolina (who plays Osaka) is going out with Gael Monfils these days. Quite cute.

PrivateParkin · 22/01/2019 23:37

Did Our Girl win anything? Grin

Raahh · 22/01/2019 23:38

I would love Osaka to win - to erase the memories of the US open, more than anything else.

Raahh · 22/01/2019 23:39

Our Girl

Grin
JaneJeffer · 22/01/2019 23:49

No Private despite two nominations. Maybe it's time to replace it with a tennis programme Wink

Raahh · 23/01/2019 06:29

Morning!
Serena is out, which is great. Excellent result from Pliskova.

But - going off the Raonic match, looks like I may have jinxed Milos...

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 07:31

That Serena match sounds a bit mad - she was 5-1 up in the final set Shock

Pouille is looking really good isn't he?? Where did that come from?!

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 07:43

Wow Raonic's volleys here Shock

Raahh · 23/01/2019 07:43

Apparently she was foot faulted legitimately on match point.

Her fans are crying foul.

This match is nerve wracking now and I have to go out.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 07:44

And Pouille's passing shots Shock

Raahh · 23/01/2019 07:45

This is where Milos needs some cheap servesGrin

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 07:46

Oh no!!

Raahh · 23/01/2019 07:48

Sadbut he's come back pretty well, considering

Problem is, if Nish doesn't beat Djok, I can't really see Pouille doing it.

I don't really and a Rafa Novak final. My nerves won't take it.

Raahh · 23/01/2019 07:49

*want

Raahh · 23/01/2019 07:49

Turn your hat round, Mac . You 're not 3.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 07:55

Exactly Raahh. But Raonic has never beaten Djok either... so I suppose the chances of Djok reaching the final are still the same now. Doesn't feel like it though!

Maybe it's Pouille who's going to come from nowhere to win his first Slam?!!

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 07:55

But well done Amelie anyway!

magimedi · 23/01/2019 07:58

So happy to wake up to the news about Serena. Grin.

Sorry for Raonic - I'd taken it for granted he would win that one. Am not sure if I've ever seen Pouille play.
